(2) Since Tuesday, it's officially been winter in the northern hemisphere. Yay or nay? Why? I hope you have a warm one and enjoy yourself. ​

(3) It's National Roots Day today. Everyone's ancestors migrated at some point to where they live nowadays. How much value do you put on your family's ancestry? Do you consider your parents' generation, or further back? Don't you find it amazing to find out that you had ancestors from all over the world? ​

(4) The 21st was National Short Girl Appreciation Day, and I felt personally targeted. :P How tall are you? Do you like your height? There are many advantages and disadvantages to being particularly tall or short, but one thing they have in common : they're all beautiful! ​

(5) The 20th was Games Day. Do you enjoy board games, video games, party games, card games...? What are your favourite games? ​

Hi everyone! Thanks for the invite, Auri. I hope everyone is well.

1.) Thanks for asking.
I am doing well these days, having more good days than bad.

2.) The coldness used to make me sad, but now it makes me feel more alive for some reason. I like everything that comes with winter time, like cozy fires, watching movies under warm blankets, drinking hot cocoa and the holiday get-togethers.

3.) Genetics are fascinating, and I appreciate my ancestors and roots. I guess I don’t place much emphasis on them, but I’m grateful for them.

4.) National Short Girl Appreciation Day? Lol, I’ve never heard of that day, but also feel slightly targeted too @Auri, lol. I’m about 5’2, and used to hate feeling so short. Then, I guess I started being okay with it when considering that I’m taller than, or as tall as a lot of women around me.

5.) I love games of all types! My favorites would have to be ‘The Sims’ and ‘Grand Theft Auto.’ I enjoy relaxing at night on my phone playing an interior design game. And you can never go wrong with go ole’ board games.

Lots of questions, so here goes:

1. Not great to be honest, but let's not dwell on that for now.

2. I'm neutral about winter, it's inevitable and something that has to be gotten through. Although the older I get the less I care for it and understand why so many of my countrymen flock South in the winter. Perhaps one day....
I will take cold weather over a heat wave, easier to warm up than cool down for me.

3. Almost all my ancestors are from Western Europe. I have an Uncle who is really into family history and I do find it fascinating but also suspect he makes up some of the tales he tells about our ancestors. I still find it incredible that my maternal grandfather hopped on a boat and emigrated to North America at 13 by himself! 13!

4. I like short girls so much I married one. She's 5 foot 3 (on a good day) and I'm a foot taller than her. I like being tallish but to be honest I don't think it's easy being much taller than me, I have a hard time finding shoes, clothes and fitting in some cars as it is.

5. I love games. I try and stay away from video games and games on my phone, I find them incredibly addictive and I can become a bit obsessed with them. Nothing beats a good board game, I always loved Clue and with the right group Monopoly is awesome. Does anyone remember the board games Masterpiece or Moviemaker, those are huge games from my childhood.

   Im doing great, this has been a trying month, but a monumentally good year, so I would say great

   Yay! I always liked winter, the cold is bracing and refreshing, and with a chance of snow ^^
   
   
3. It's National Roots Day today. Everyone's ancestors migrated at some point to where they live nowadays. How much value do you put on your family's ancestry? Do you consider your parents' generation, or further back? Don't you find it amazing to find out that you had ancestors from all over the world?
   I consider my grandparents, as these are the oldest roots I know, and the point where people start playing with emigration, my dad's lot were originally from Northern Ireland, my mum's mum from Scotland and mum's dad from Norway, though I was raised English.
   
   I put plenty value on my British upbringing and culture, as it is mine, but I also place a lot of my Norwegian roots as my mum never let me forget them I also value the Irish and Scottish, but as they never factored into my cultural upbringing they are more hypothetical and vague pride in coming from hardy stock.

   I am 6'1" and I used to wish I was an inch or two taller, but now I think any taller would be problematic for... reasons. And yes, I appreciate you all the time

   ALL Games are great, except im not such a fan of physical ones if I can help it, not my forte. I will happily dabble in any, but ones which allow me to explore or create new ideas and stories are my favourite, with particularly interesting puzzles being second.

Thanks for the tag @Auri I've been missing from the Cafe lately and getting behind on Cafe threads, but I decided to come in today and not let worrying about trying to catch up on older Cafes. Sorry to anyone who may have tagged me in previous Cafes and not gotten an answer from me. In particular, I do remember being tagged in at least one prior Cafe by @JMG and I always appreciate being thought of even if I don't respond. Just has been anxiety and a weird sleep schedule stopping me from stopping by on time

How are you doing these days?
I'm doing okay. I'm excited for the holidays but a little sad too because I can't see my family. I did a job interview yesterday. Seemed to go pretty well, but I'm not sure if I have quite the type of experience they're looking for. At the same time though, I don't know anything about the other people who are interviewing for the position, so I'll just have to wait and see. The lady said she wants to make a decision soon since the previous person is leaving at the end of the month.

I looooove winter. It's my favorite season. It's been a bit warm for me lately though. Christmas Day might get up to 57F/14C, and I was really hoping for a white Christmas this year Looks like it might just be rainy.

My ancestry from outside the US goes back a few generations at the very least. The one guy came to the US as far back as the early 1700s and was one of the first Europeans to immigrate to the Lancaster County, Pennsylvania area. He was from Zürich. I also have significant ancestry from Germany. Then the rest is from elsewhere in Europe. I had a basic genetic test done, and all my ancestry from as far back as they can measure with the test is European. The only surprise to me was that I had a small portion of Southern European or Mediterranean ancestry. Kinda disappointing that there wasn't really anything too interesting

I wonder if there's a Short Guy Appreciation Day, because I definitely feel underappreciated in that sometimes. My height is bordering on 5'3", about 160 cm. I don't know many other guys my height IRL so at least I can feel somewhat unique?

Not a big games person in general. I used to play simulation computer games (like The Sims, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon, etc.) but haven't in forever. Though I do have a few on Steam.

Hi and thanks for the invite @Auri!

1. I'm doing OK. December is usually a bad month for me but it's been ok this year...so far...

2. Nah. Hate cold, hate winter, short days, bad light, all of it. Except if I put on weight I can hide in a big jumper or coat.

3. It's fascinating but my roots aren't all that interesting. No exotic mixes or anything like that.
4. Yah, that's my day! I'm 5'. I'd love for a few more inches but I'm OK with it now. The one time it feels great is when I fly and those economy seats are made just for me! Disadvantages are you don't really get respect when you are the same size as a small teenager but then if people are rude or ignore you you don't have to waste any time on them. Clothes were a nightmare in the 70's and 80's until petite sizes became a thing in the 90's.

5. I like board games but don't play very often and not for years. Used to play Scrabble a lot at one time. I have no idea about pc games. My son showed me one in VR and it scared the hell out of me and it hadn't even really started. Some enormous metal insect thing went flying over my head and I screamed!
