That photo from @extraterrestrialone beguiled my bird brain so I took a walk back to sanity central where I commune with all manner of wild and wondrous critters.
The common Red Squirrel. The first and second pictures are of one of the three that come by to feed inside the shelter I roughed together so the Blue Jays can’t get all the food. The picture on the stump is a mother close to that time. Can’t wait to meet the little ones in the coming days.

you pic reminded me— just a few day ago my son, a firefighter, emt, justed turned paramedic informed me he plans to get his wildfire certification so he can parachute into blazes and try to stop them. 🤔 I told him I would prefer the wildfire training without the jumping in the middle of it part. 😂

Not much going on today....work, hanging out with my son, the usual routine. Unusually hot today for April in the Northern Hemisphere...low to mid-90s (32C for the civilized world!). Should cool off a little this weekend, which is nice since I am taking my son to the rocket field on Saturday for the first launch day of the year 🚀

nope! its Forest Park in central Queens. its almost a real forest and it is where i get most of my nature pictures. its so nice that actual wildlife lives in the city: wooly bear caterpiller, hawks, little green warblers, assorted butterflies such as swallowtail and monarch, elephants, rhinos... wait a minute, i’m getting just a little carried away.... 😊

Cool short story about a wooly bear caterpillar. I was plowing snow on a -25 C / -13 F night and noticed one on the building I was plowing behind. Plucked it off the wall, brought into the cab of the truck. When it warmed up, it began to crawl away.
