You matter John, whether the people around you treat you as if you do or not. I hope that things can get better for you soon

I think I would want to see a world that is as free from suffering and as full as happiness as possible. I think the mirror might reveal some selfish desires too, but I think the greater good is more important.
Thank you.

The mirror reveals your deepest desires. It can be a greater good, like world peace, though I'm not sure what you would see in the mirror, people signing papers or pigeons flying in a clear blue sky?

Tysm for tagging me for the cafe & for posting it today @johnDoen :) I second what may71 said, you definitely do matter in this life, we all do even if it doesn't feel like we do or we aren't sure what our reason is for being here. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Hopefully one day we do find out for sure what that reason is. I'm sorry you are doubting such a thing, I know the pain of feeling that way for sure as many other members here and people in the world in general also know too. Hope you feel better soon. Lots of special, comforting hugs to you *hug*hug

I can't answer that mirror of desire question though sorry, it will only make me extremely depressed. I really like what Dumbledore says to Harry in that scene in both the book and movie - That it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live. Those are very wise words imo. To think of such a thing like that is the complete opposite of expressing gratitude for all the things I'm grateful for which is what I need to be focusing on stronger than ever right now. Some of the many things I'm grateful for in my life are this site, my mom, sis and a few other family members, the few friends I have and who I can really talk to about things, my sweet perfect lil kitty, Star Wars, Mark Hamill, chocolate, cookies, ice cream, animals, trees, flowers - nature basically lol, my pillow, room and all the things I have that are good. I'm a very lucky woman in this world :)
Hope everyone has a great day, sending lots of hugs of love and comfort as always :)*hug*hug
Thank you.

The mirror is just like any other mirrors on this planet. It's meant to show images. It's up to you on how to deal with those images. If you are happy, content and graceful in life, just as mentioned in the book, you would just see your own reflection, like with a normal mirror.

Its lame but now I would say to "see my parents" such a Harry answer. But I used to say..when I first read it, Someone who loved me, like a lover or husband or a best friend. Or any friends. Sometimes It would be a big family. So still people... Hasn't changed much. There's just less people living now.

Happy May 10th everyone who reads this *hug
I can't hug you, so I'll hug my cat 🐈 and think of you. @johnDoen And anyone having a rough day today. As I am.
I hope we can distract and tomorrow is better...
Somehow...

I'm not sure. I don't feel much welcome, nor needed, nor love in life. I regret every moment of breathing and the decision to stay 2 years ago. No one remember what happened, but me, as all the pain has always been with me. The ones you asked for help put their egos into their heads and blamed you for being abnormal, less of a man, coward, and selfish. Am I even matter in this life?

(Sorry, for tagging you to read all that. This section is supposed to be more light-hearted)

What happened on this day, really?
  • 28 BC, first sunspot recorded in Han dynasty, China.
  • 1497, Amerigo Vespucci left to the New World.
  • 1503, Christopher Columbus called Cayman Islands "las Tortugas" because of turtles.
  • 1534, Jacques Cartier visited Newfoundland.
  • 1773, people of Boston threw tea boxes into the sea. They then drank coffee, instead.
  • 1824, the National Gallery opened to the public.
  • 1904, Audi (then named Horch ... ) was founded.
  • 1908, first celebration of Mothers' Day in the US.
  • 1994, Nelson Mandela is inaugurated as the President of South Africa.
The Mirror of All Desires
If you have ever read/watched the first book/movie of the Harry Potter series (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone), you might remember this one. It is called the Mirror of Erised, which shows the viewer's deepest desires, hence the name of today's topic. So, what do you see? What are your deepest desires revealed in that mirror?
For the seal, it was "fibsh", whatever that means. I can only see my desires, not the seal's.
desire/desires are they/they are
reflections.
looking, I see
might they be
opposites?
one could surmise all
or anything that opposite implies.
shall I speak truth when I don't know
the lies.
my heart cries
my desire is - why?

Thank you. It has been 3 years or so since the last time I had a hug.

So, what do I see in the mirror?

Not me, because I dislike my reflections and images.

I see an exhibition or a museum of the things I want to do being completed, in various forms, like news articles or framed paintings, because I used to draw. I see people from all over the world visiting that place and taking pictures, maybe talking, but this is a mirror not a TV, so no sound can be heard. I see a legacy and how I inspired others. I see a better world with my impacts but without me to be there.

A day late but thanks for opening @johnDoen and for the tag @MisterBGone an interesting question @johnDoen and much food for thought as vacillate between just one day of simply no obligations/responsibilities and having gained enough expertise in my second career to have some self-confidence free from anxiety...so since the first is unlikely perhaps the second is attainable with time...

I guess if you were seeing the greater good, then you would just see a lot of people being happy, or just see things getting better for a lot of people? Animals too :)

Hi @johnDoen . Thanks for tagging me. My deepest desire to be freedom from all kinds of suffering, pain, misery, sorrow, unhappiness and to be loved and cared.
You said that people think you are selfish, coward and abnormal. But I don't think so. You are just as normal and brave as any member of SF who are struggling hard in life. A big hugs to you. Hope your days get better. May you have a good time ahead.
