Now that the festive season is ACTUALLY here (and not stupidly early)
1) How many presents are you buying this year?

Not so many; the adult kids want money, not things. The adult adults want nothing and I already bought three presents for the younger kids. I have some presents that I bought at craft fairs but the recipients are not expecting anything.

2) Do you still have presents to buy?
I have one person left to buy for and her husband also has no clue what she would like. But since I bought something for the husband - well, now I have to buy something for her.

3) What makes it a real Christmas for you?

Songs, lights, and people. The magic. Children. Getting unexpected presents (being thought of)

4) What was your best Christmas? I can't remember - it has been so long.
5) What are your Christmas plans this year?
Going to be rough this year. I go to my brother's for a family gathering on christmas Eve, but no plans for Christmas Day. I had hoped to visit my sister but she is having her estranged ex-hubby over for the day. So I have nobody to hang out with and being a social person it will be torture. so I am dreading Christmas Day.

Music is my pick, because music has the unique ability to transcend cultural and linguistic boundaries. Sure, you might not be able to understand the full meaning of a song in another language, but you can still listen to the melody, to the rhythm, and you can still enjoy it. I have plenty of songs on my playlist from other countries, singing in languages I can't understand, but I still love the sound and the melody.

There is this song "all I want for Christmas" or something like that, it's not bad, but last year, I could hear it EVERYWHERE, I still have nightmares about that jsjsjsjs.

Sure, I'll play. It shouldn't be that hard. That song is not that popular here.

Maybe spend some time with my family, that made our Christmas feel real.

It was before I moved, my family wasn't scattered back then and we celebrated Christmas in my house. A bit crowded, but it was nice.

I have a bottle of home-made liquor, other than that, I don't think so lol.

It's very hard to just choose one, I'm a fan of all of them.

I do, I write (but mostly in my language) and draw (but I have seen the work of other people here and it embarrasses me to share mine jaja)

Art is difficult to explain. It is a way to transcend and become immortal, it is an easier way to express what you feel, even better than words. It's a distraction for the pain that an empty stomach causes. It's also a form of rebellion and resistance. It is something worth living and dying for.

A couple for family, but where I live the gift giving is not during Christmas, but a couple weeks sooner.

Decorations, family, cooking some great dishes. It seldom happens, but I do like it when it snows.

The last year I wasn't the single. That must be more than 5 years ago.

We're getting together with family.

That will be a close tie between Film and Music, I think music will be just a bit.

Graffiti in some sorts, although some of it looks spectacular, but most of the time its rubbish.

It would be impossible to look at, isn't anything humans ever created a form of art? Even the first tools look artistic besides their functional properties.

I used to do all sorts of creative things, play the guitar, writing, drawing.

In a sense it's a way to express how you feel. Your imagination comes to life.

Hi everyone, thank you @Dante for tagging me in. I like and hate Christmas with equal measure depending on which slant I think about it, but the whamageddon seems fun. So I’m in.

1) How many presents are you buying this year? I have three kids and a niece as well as my parents, brother and sister so I will be getting quite a few.
2) Do you still have presents to buy? I am making progress but I’m really stuck for ideas particularly for my son. He can’t think of anything either.
3) What makes it a real Christmas for you?
For me Christmas is about having the family together. I wouldn’t mind not having presents but just having everyone sat around the table together is so special, particularly at the moment when it’s been so difficult to get everyone together.
4) What was your best Christmas?
Difficult to say, probably when the kids were little and Christmas held some magic for them.
5) What are your Christmas plans this year? Everyone is hopefully going to be well enough to come to me for Christmas Day so lots of cooking and time in the kitchen but having the family together is the most important thing.

1) How many presents are you buying this year?
My brother and his family are coming over this year so a few extra to buy for (we don't usually swap presents as it costs so much to post them so far). So this year I have 11 people to buy for plus a Secret Santa gift for work.
2) Do you still have presents to buy?
I still haven't bought anything for my two grown up children as neither of them can think of anything they want. I'll probably give my daughter money as she doesn't earn much so never has anything left to treat herself in the year if she wants something.
3) What makes it a real Christmas for you?
Being with my family and friends and seeing smile. Also a big box of maltesers lol
4) What was your best Christmas?
When my children were small we bought them a bike each one year. Don't think I've ever seen them so excited They were outside riding them all day so we ended up having our Christmas lunch in the evening.
5) What are your Christmas plans this year?
It's a big one this year. I'll be cooking for 16 on the day. I'm hoping someone else will do the washing up!

As an aside the weirdest Christmas present I've ever bought arrived yesterday. A "teach yourself taxidermy" kit. All you need to add is a defrosted mouse from a pet food shop

Already bought, same as it's been for the last several years, I buy for a total of 3 people and I'm fine with that, makes it a lot less stressful and overwhelming

Yup, for my friend, not sure wtf else to get him but need to try to think of something soon.

3) What makes it a real Christmas for you?
Watching Christmas movies, eggnog, having a Christmas tree up, seeing my sis, just enjoying the good parts of the season basically. Oh when it snows on Xmas eve wow that's really great but that's only happened maybe 1 or 2 times in my whole life so oh well too bad so sad for me lol.

As a kid - When I was 7 cos I spent it with my mom and sis and it was just a really nice Christmas. We got what ended up being some of my fave toys I ever had too, they were adorable and also smelled really nice lol.

Same as they've been for several years now, going to my sis's and having a nice dinner and then opening presents on Xmas morning, it's a nice and enjoyable time of year for us overall

Painting/visual art but I appreciate it very deeply in various forms.

I'd never admit this if I were truly remotely "popular" but since I'm not - music. Yup. There. I said it. Whatever. It's more the kind with words than classical or soundtrack though. Those kinds I love very deeply. Sometimes with words are fine too though but wow they really need to not be saying things that piss me right off (which the huge majority of them kinda do).

3) What would the world look like if all art were truly gone from it on this day every year?
Even MORE of an utter disaster than it already is. It's one of the only things that makes most things bearable imo. Without it...well I guess there'd still be lots of inspiration cos of nature and the beauty of various things in life but...wow. Would not be the same at all. That is not a world I would really want to live in.

4) Have you made Art? Share it if you like.
Done some drawing over the years, tried lots of times to write stories but never been able to finish any of them (just kinda run out of steam/focus/motivation) and put together digital collage types of things, that's about it. I prefer to look at what others have put together and show my support and appreciation to them, they are far more talented than I could ever hope to be anyway so whatever.

5) What does Art mean to you?
My answers to everything else are already a bit long so I'll just keep this short and sweet and say - it means a LOT to me and I have an extremely deep, intense, passionate and infinite love for it

No buying gifts this year.
Christmas when young was good, we would go to Miami Beach for many years to be with my grandmother....they owned a small hotel/apartment house and I was all over the place having a good time. It was also celebrated with in-law family members the years I was married.
I don't have any plans for the day itself.
I enjoy most anything art; photography, paintings, cars, jewelry, sculpture, pottery, music...there's a well known annual art car parade here in Houston...they're fabulous.

Very sad, cold and without purpose. I'd spend the day in nature to experience some beauty and peace.

Not really. My nightmares are strangely creative though.

It's the best thing about humanity and the ultimate genius, as it's supposed not to be "useful". There is no other ultimate goal in human life. (Pretty sure that only makes sense to me, but today is not the day for me to write an essay, sorry. ^^)
