Welcome one and all to Jim's Café, the sanctuary for the long suffering sane from the madness of the modern world.

My cafe on the 19th was my first in a while, so here is another one! *stars Merry Monday my marvellous and miraculous men and madams! May merriment mark your mornings and your moods miss misery by miles. Today is Go for a Ride Day, and American National Cranberry Relish Day, thats about it, so im going to just make up the topic :D

As ever, feel free to read and answer whatever you like, topics are divided into tables, each heading has a summary, so no need to read tonnes of you dont want to, answer as much or as little as you like.

Now, fun facts about bicycles and some music to read them to, followed by our tables of many topics:

Peaceful Music

Fun Facts
1) Some claim that you can fit around 15 bicycles in the same space that one car occupies, but the cyclists wont be comfortable.
2) The longest tandem bicycle seated 35 people, it was more than 20 meters long.
3) The word bicycle started being used several years after the first bicycles went on sale. The first models were called velocipedes.
4) The same energy you use to walk can be used on a bicycle to go 3 times faster (depending on road surface and incline)
5) The land speed record for a bicycle is 184MPH set in 2018 by Denise Mueller-Korenek using an aerodynamic suit and specially designed bicycle which needs to be towed above a certain speed before the pedals are workable by human legs due to the specialised gearing.

Travel Table

With (some) of the world unlocking, people are increasingly free to travel, so here is a table to talk about it:
1) Where have you been to recently?
2) Where would you like to go next?
3) Tell us about your last holiday somewhere special (Not a "sit-on-arse-and-watch-TV" holiday)
4) If you have pictures of anywhere you have been to, or desperately want to go to, feel free to share them but remember, no selfies, (Anonymity remember).
5) What was your favourite trip ever, and what made it so special?

Health & Exercise Table

After 2 years of being stuck at home, what have we been doing to keep our minds and bodies in good condition?
1) Do you get much exercise? and if so, what do you do?
2) What do you do to keep your mind active?
3) What do you do to counter the extra emotional strain from all the crap these past 2 years?
4) Do you remember to eat healthily? What do you eat most days?
5) How has your mental, physical and emotional health changed these past 2 years?

The Secret Passion Table

The table to tell us all about that 1 topic you love but rarely get to talk about.
1) What is that one topic you could talk about for hours but rarely get to?
2) What really excites you about it?
3) What is your favourite part?
4) Do you think its an acquired taste or something everyone would love if they gave it a chance?
5) Make a joke specific to the topic, lets see your maths/art/dentistry/graphic-design/etc jokes.

The Bar
A place for the not-so-chatty to just say hi and be present.
1) Say Hi
2) Be present.

The Recruitment Table
1) Tag someone!
2) Tag more
3) Make a Cafe.

Hello again! *hug*bounce*woohoo

I'm WAY too exhausted today to reply to all of it, but I'll start with one that seems easy to answer... :P

Health & Exercise Table
1) Do you get much exercise? and if so, what do you do?
Not at all. After Auri doesn't do dates, rule number 2 is Auri doesn't do exercise. Although... I've walked about 70km these past 3 days, incl. 60 storeys. So there's that.

2) What do you do to keep your mind active?
I read/watch/listen to art, I get interested in stuff, I talk to people, and I take antidepressants. I try to sleep enough, too.

3) What do you do to counter the extra emotional strain from all the crap these past 2 years?
Pretty much the same as the previous question. Talking/meeting people definitely helps. Now I travel, too.

4) Do you remember to eat healthily? What do you eat most days?
Not when I travel, clearly. I keep it in mind all the time, but I don't always do very well. I normally eat and cook breakfast and dinner, but the latter is sometimes prepared/processed. :( Too much chocolate, not enough fruit. I drink lots of water and tea, but also too much coffee.

5) How has your mental, physical and emotional health changed these past 2 years?
My mental health has improved enough for me not to have suicidal thoughts or horrible depression days anymore. The anxiety has worsened a bit. Physically, I'm not active enough, but that's been stable. :P Emotions are still a weakness, I suppose. ^^

Thanks, @Dante ! I'll have to take the bar today, because I'd need a couple of stiff ones to make my other answers more exciting.

The Bar
A place for the not-so-chatty to just say hi and be present.
1) Say Hi

Hi.
2) Be present.
And accounted for.

Nonetheless, from the travel part, I like places such as below in the US northwest: Comfortable temperatures, no mosquitoes, fragrance of pine and greenery in the air, no pre-planned route, just go wherever looks pleasant:

1) Where have you been to recently?

Yesterday I visited the biggest city in the county, population about 7,000 people, the county seat is the next most populous with about 5,000. Not much to do in these parts except whittle like Jed Clampett and watch grass grow. LOL

2) Where would you like to go next?

Can't think of anyplace special I want to see.

3) Tell us about your last holiday somewhere special (Not a "sit-on-arse-and-watch-TV" holiday)

Christmas of last year visiting with my brother and his family.

4) If you have pictures of anywhere you have been to, or desperately want to go to, feel free to share them but remember, no selfies, (Anonymity remember).

No pictures but I rarely remember to take the camera I have.

5) What was your favourite trip ever, and what made it so special?

Visiting Idaho and Montana over the years always fun to see the varied wildlife both plant and animal that are not in these parts. It was fun to see critters like elk, moose, bison, black and grizzly bear. Beautiful animals.

1) Do you get much exercise? and if so, what do you do?

I typically exercise a few times a week, the stationary bike is my favorite because I can watch TV and movies while sitting on my brain. :)

2) What do you do to keep your mind active?

Me and my mind avoid each other. We don't get along well. LOL

3) What do you do to counter the extra emotional strain from all the crap these past 2 years?

Not having strong emotions is sometimes a huge plus. Everything calm and flat on feelings.

4) Do you remember to eat healthily? What do you eat most days?

It is a mix but I never deprive myself of anything I crave to avoid overindulging when I do treat myself. Sometimes healthy but then you add the typical Texas grub and it can be pretty heavy at times.

5) How has your mental, physical and emotional health changed these past 2 years?

About the same for me so far.

1) What is that one topic you could talk about for hours but rarely get to?

Woodworking and carpentry is a favorite for myself.

2) What really excites you about it?

The creativity you can express and the improvement that comes with it. Examples.

First outing. A dominoes box for my grandparents. It dates from about 1969 when I was 5. Dominoes are the game in town in my family whether regular dominoes, Moon or 42. Naturally grandparents were overjoyed...beautiful, wonderful work, exactly what we hoped for and the thing still survives and gets used. Parents and grandparents both are softies for hand made gifts from kids and grandkids.

Go forward 5 years and after the first deer hunt I went on.

Hat rack.jpg

My granddad insisted on the first deer we got to mount the antlers and after that you thank the animal for the meat and no trophy should be thought about, nice hat rack normally with a Stetson hat, a Brodie helmet and a Jayne Cobb hat on it. He and I built it together, so I got a bit better.

A present for my mom when I was a Breakfast Club John Bender shop student was the desk that resides right here now.

Desk.jpg

3) What is your favourite part?

Being able to build things that can be pretty to look at and practical in use. It is one of the reasons I love the craft type threads with knitting, crotcheting, and creating things like that.

4) Do you think its an acquired taste or something everyone would love if they gave it a chance?

Some would probably take to it, but others can be even lazier than me which is telling a lot and just order off Amazon or such for the convenience.

5) Make a joke specific to the topic, lets see your maths/art/dentistry/graphic-design/etc jokes.

Jokes or at least ones fit to print typically without getting the shit slapped out of me don't come easy to me.
