This GIF up there at the top was hilarious. Thanks for opening and I'm interested to read what people come up with here even though I didn't have a good answer. (cause I'm boring)
You do have a beautiful story! You should tell them how you met kitty and have your first daughter ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿงšโ€โ™€๏ธ

I don't know if I have an answer for this. I think that every time I meet someone, it comes across as awkward because that's how I am. I'm pretty silent and uncomfortable unless I know someone well enough, but I can still be weird around those I know well.

I'm usually the awkward one in those types of situations. I'm the one making a fool, not the other person. I could tell you loads of times I've embarrassed myself to the point I never wanted to speak to or see the person again. I don't really recall an instance of something from someone else. Unless someone is off in a creepy way, I'm not likely to be put off by an introduction so I'm not likely to remember or recall it.

Definitely my sister in law on first visit. My brother is very dead pan and low key on things and he warned her about me that I can be and am unusual. This was a first visit with all the immediate family and after supper my brother started helping my mom to clean off the table and do dishes. I just said Kevin, you have a woman there to do the women's work. Amy replied back that she had heard about me. I asked him you call Amy a chick? His comment was no she is more of a dame. She just warned that she was about to kick both of our asses. The flip side, positive good side is that months later when she developed complications from pregnancy and needed a transfusion I was a match and just told the doctors to take all that she needed because she was more important to me not just for her but also because my one and only nephew would come from her shortly and that was what mattered. Because of the complications she knew no more children or it would be risky and that me donating blood told her much more about my personality and character than the fact that I can act like an uncouth baboon at times, that she knew she could always depend on me no matter what.

I have had social anxiety since I was a kid, so not just one moment comes to mind. It's everyday some encounters will go better than others. Having SA has an effect on everything else in my life, though the older I get the more I accept that things are not always going to go the way I would like them to socially. I continue to work on it everyday and try to be the best person I can be.

Ty for the tags @Tana & @Walker :)

Yes, first intros/meetings are generally pretty awkward for me, despite always trying as hard as I possibly can to make sure they AREN'T awkward. It's always such a relief to meet someone who is actually truly smooth and comfortable with first meetings but it has been very very rare in my experience. I don't think it actually is that I'M awkward so much as if I get the sense that the OTHER person is awkward then it causes me to be a lot more awkward. It's like some kind of over-sensitivity thing or something I think.

I can't think of any awkward first intros stories though sorry, but like I said most of the ones I ever had in my life WERE awkward to some degree or another.

Years ago, I kind of on a blind date. I told her to meet me outside Covent Garden tube station and we'll go on from there. Things is though, I got there a little early, and it wasn't my fault because seriously it was a hot, sunny day. Now just nearby the tubestation was this pub. So I wandered over there for a spot of "rehydration."

So there I was, pint of lager in one hand, accompanying ciggie in the other standing outside (well I thought it'd be healthy for me to catch some Vit D from the sun.) The date turns up, rings me on my mobile to find out where I am and then eventually spots me standing outside. She comes over with a look of disdain on her face, saying how she doesn't approve of smoking nor drinking.

End result? She heads back towards the tube station and I go and order another lager.

Well clearly that date wasn't gonna go anywhere with you anyhow.
Who the hell would set you up with a woman who was going to be a jerk about a smoker or a drinker? lol Poor call there.
Some dickspanner friend of a relative who decided to get all meddlesome. Oh man, this gets even better as couple years down the line, I inadvertently met the her parents:

One of my uncle's decided to host a dinner for a few friends/associates of his at some restaurant he had acquired. Me and my brother were invited and so off we went. So there wa my uncle, hosting the dinner in some closed off private room in the back. For most of the night, I spotted some middled aged woman staring me out repeatedly, with an absolute foul expression on her face. Her husband wasn't too far behind in the medusa looks either.

Now I'm thinking "who the fuck are they?" as one would. trying to recall but without any success of any inflammatory incidents I may have been involved in with this couple. Eventually, the guy starts talking, my uncle joins in, and then it clicks who they are. So naturally, I'm of the opinon it's time to bail. I'm nudging me brother repeatedly trying to get his attention, and urging him to start the car. He's like "fuck off man I'm eating." So I explain the reasons why and he's going "I'm getting the car, you get the food in a doggy bag."

I'm so sure these people were that bitter about you not going out with their daughter. I feel like you would have corrupted her anyway.. they should have been thankful she left when she did - sheesh

Yeah, they should've been eternally grateful to me, instead of trying to ponder whether to assault me with a dessert spoon or a piece of chicken, they should've handed me a few drinks and a cigar.
