I left SF because I was drinking on the weekends, and I didn't want to subject you guys to a weekly drunk. I'm still struggling

My husband and I just quit drinking in the last year. It's hard to learn new coping mechanisms when you're using alcohol to help with thoughts and feelings, but it's so worth it. Literally no good can come from alcohol.

I've done a lot of thinking about why I drink to excess every weekend. I think it's because my HSP brain needs a vacation. Being me aint easy, seriously. I think maybe my brain enjoys being someone else for a couple of days?

Thereโ€™s a sports radio host I listen to, heโ€™s also a comedian (stand up), but heโ€™s been sober from drinking for a really long time - like maybe two decades? (Heโ€™s probably in his 50โ€™a or 60โ€™s...); but he always goes, โ€œJust got to alter your mindโ€”to have a good time!โ€ ;D
