I figured that I would have a chance to open the cafe today!

Today's theme is luck because it's Saint Patrick’s Day. Has anyone gotten lucky so far today?
Oh, Thank You for doing this, @ClassicsFan ! :D I just LOVE St. Paddy's Day, as my Grandmother was Irish (as in, her Mom came from Ireland..;)) So, anyways. . . although it is still early - where I live - I guess I'll say that my best "Luck," thus far~ has been seeing 'You!' Or more precisely: that it was indeed, YOU - who opened Jim's Cafe` Today! So, thanks again my friend~ & may we all run out and jam up the ice cream machines at McDonald's that make the Shamrock_Shakes!! Erin Go Bragh-

Howdy all, & thank you for the lucktastic cafe @ClassicsFan 🍀😊

I guess the luckiest thing to happen so far today for me is that I got the last of the coffee creamer & I'm in a swell mood! I guess I'm also lucky my thyroid isn't giving me grief today so I suppose that's a plus as well.

Have a great very green & lucky St. Pat's day all, I hope there is some fun waiting around the corner for everyone 🌈 🍻

Thanks for for opening @classicfans.... Happy St. Patrick's Day to one and all....

As for good luck...not sure if these count but thinking of my 106 year old mother in law who will be released from the hospital to skilled nursing as she starts her recovery from a fall (no surgery a 2nd good lucky thing) and slight touch of pneumonia and hopefully transition to assisted living and though a long shot back to her independent living apartment and my husband who gets his 2nd vaccine today...both very good things to the two in world that I love the most....

Thanks @Kiwi2016 for the tag!

Feeling lucky because a small glitch in vaccine supply allows me to get my first vaccine tomorrow, much sooner than expected. Wishing good luck to my friend who is having a medical test done today — hoping they give her the all clear! :)

Congratulations! Are you scared about it just being a new job and place or about the covid?
Just scared about going back to work. It's been four years since I left my job due to depression and twenty five years since I worked full time. They asked how many days I could work and I panicked and said five but I'm now worried it's too much and should have started with three or four days.

I have always wondered, why do Americans celebrate saint Patrick's day? I have seen that it is quite a celebration there, I heard there's even a lake is dyed green during the celebration, is that really a thing?
Americans celebrate because we can!
My guess is there are pockets of Irish catholics. These areas celebrate because of history. It is a religious day. American Irish Catholics made it a day of celebration; of pride.
The Chicago River (in downtown Chicago) is dyed green every year. Smaller towns dye their rivers Too. i have never heard about lakes.
many people go to bars as gluttons. Food, drinking & dancing. Many never care who St. Pat is. ☘️
I ll try to find out how the tradition of dying rivers came to be.

Well....I work in medical in the US, there's always been a training/orientation timeframe for a number of days usually weeks......I hope they have that set up there for new hires.
Did they offer you an option for number of days or number of hours? How did they approach you about it other than that one open ended question as far as availability need.....If you think there was choice to begin with, there may still be that possibility/option when you get there on workday #1 and could bring it up,:) if it feels right....*hugIt's also a 6 month time frame.....and if you get offered a longer stint while you are there you could make a change at that time if you still want.....just thinkin;)
