Hello SF family. Just a couple tests today and the semester will be over. Will report on my grades later (fingers crossed).

So, today I thought I'd find out about the different kinds of cocktails in the world.

What is your favorite cocktail?
Does your country have a signature cocktail?
What cocktail would you like to try?

My favorite cocktail is a Mimosa (sparkling wine and oj).
I think the signature drink of the Southern US might be the Margarita. I do love a frozen Strawberry Margarita.
I've wondered about absinthe, but I understand its illegal in parts of the world?

Man, I LOVE margaritas but I'm now diabetic and trying to eliminate sugar...so out goes my favorite drink! Jalapeno Margaritas are SOOO good!!

I think the US is just too wide ranging to have a signature drink. Personally tho I can say I love a Whiskey Sour, Spicey Margarita and a good ole Jack & Coke

I'd say the daiquiri or mint julep is a bit more iconic to the South overall. Margarita more for places with more Mexican heritage, ie Texas and Southwest.

I don't drink very much, but cocktails are nice every once in a while. My old neighbor back where I grew up made a really good mojito I had once, and that's what I remember when I think about cocktails. I haven't really had too many I don't think. My one buddy bought me an Old Fashioned once when we were watching Spurs at the previous pub, back in the day before I was working and didn't have much money. I think I had a Moscow mule once or twice which was good. I also went to a bar with my friend earlier this year and tried a few of their fun cocktails, including one called Barbie Gurl that was like strawberry and gin, and one called Deez Nuts that was coconut and lime something. But there are plenty of classic types of cocktails I haven't tried yet. I am not sure if I've even had a margarita before. Probably will have to try it sometime.

Thank you for opening the cafe @Angie. I don't drink much because I tend to have an issue with drinking too much, but I'll answer these based on what I liked in the past.

What is your favorite cocktail?
Rum and coke is always a good one. A few others I like include margaritas, daiquiris, Moscow mules, and mojitos.

Does your country have a signature cocktail?
I'm not really sure but one that's regional to the Midwest is a brandy old fashioned. My mom likes to get those when she goes to the bar.

What cocktail would you like to try?
There's a lot...I tend to come up with random drink combinations. I remember doing that in a bar once, and it was something like any alcohol base that sounded good with a soda or juice mixer. lol

Cool and fun theme for the cafe, thanks for posting it Angie, and good luck with your tests, I’m sure you’ll do great :) ;)

1. Fave cocktail - Not sure if I have one (also I technically don’t really drink anyway cos of the medication I’m on), I haven’t tried many anyway, but rum and coke is good like Witty said (hey Witty! Lol) ;) and also I used to drink White Russians sometimes too. Black Russian is pretty good too, usually preferred white though cos it has Kalua (pretty sure I spelled that wrong, sorry, lol).

2. No idea if we have a signature cocktail for all of Canada, there’s probably ones that are ā€œmost popularā€ for each province. I imagine if there was it would be something like lumberjack martini or brown beaver or who knows, lol :p (Just poking fun at my country with those ā€œsuggestionsā€ of course, we definitely aren’t ā€œall lumberjacksā€ here, I’m sure not anyway! Lol) ;)

3. A cocktail I’d like to try is - all the other ones that have been listed by people here that I never tried (except that jalapeno margarita, sorry lol just not a fan of spicy kinds of things) :p

Hope everyone is having a good day! :) Will do a few more tags here too ;)

I don’t drink alcohol anymore. I got out of the habit because when my daughter was growing up and I was a single married mom-yes that was how I described myself- I was afraid of if she was hurt going to the hospital with a drink in my system wouldn’t look good. My ex wasn’t into drinking alcohol either. College had been our drinking adventure and when we graduated we never drank.

My daughter and I took a bartender class and I tried all sorts of drinks that we made with colored water. I like the iced tea. I don’t drink now because I am alone and I get mopey and depressed. I can do that without a drink.
Being so close to Boston I don’t think that there’s a regional drink because it’s a melting pot of people from all over the country. Maybe @may71 or @1964dodge can weigh in.

good luck @Angie on tests and papers. Hope you can relax once it’s done.

Good luck (and good riddance once they're finished of course) to your exams @Amgie!

My favorite cocktail is a mocktail made of plain sparkling water, a tsp of sugar syrup, pink grapefruit juice, a dash of orange bitters and a thin slice of pink grapefruit on the top.

There's 2 countiries which feel home-ish for me, and I have no idea about signature cocktails because I don't go to pubs or bars except once in a great while.

I don't have any idea of a new cocktail for the above reason. I grew up next to SF California and so I have a sentimental wish for an Irish coffee, with a scoop of whipped cream. Like from the Buena Vista. I used to sneak away from high school with my best friend and ... but that's for another cafe lol.

Take care everyone. i have to say this, mi scusi: if you decide to drink alcohol then I'm encouraging you to do so in moderation.
