Hello SF 'folks and welcome to the cafe. The seats are warmed up for you, the 4am munchies are here and the lights are dimmed for that Sunday morning hangover that some may have *bleh!

I have some weird questions for you today, its nearly 4am, leave me alone *hiding lol

1) Who was the first person you remember speaking to on SF? Was it that persons first impression that made you stay?

2) When you joined SF, did you think you would make it until today? Reasoning?

3) I really wanted to make a thread on this but didn't want to sound like a total fool, for those of us not from the US/Canada, what is the difference between thanksgiving and Christmas, without the religious background what is done differently? Are gifts exchanged, a turkey cooked? What is the actual difference on the day itself

4) Who would be doing the partying/decorating if SF were a village? Who would be Mr and Mrs clause? Well, I think we all know that one ;) Who would be bringing the Champagne? Feel free to have a little fun with this question for the lol's :D Who would be kissing under the mistletoe 😍

Happy Sunday have a good one and don't forget to not get out of bed *hug

1) Who was the first person you remember speaking to on SF? Was it that persons first impression that made you stay?
It's been almost 8 years, so I can't be totally sure at this point. But I knew pretty quickly that I was in a good place and people really did care.

2) When you joined SF, did you think you would make it until today? Reasoning?
I wasn't sure at that point. I was pretty bad off before I had any therapy or meds. i didn't even want to make it to 35, but some things have changed my mind.

3) I really wanted to make a thread on this but didn't want to sound like a total fool, for those of us not from the US/Canada, what is the difference between thanksgiving and Christmas, without the religious background what is done differently? Well you just eat a meal on Thanksgiving, usually no gifts are exchanged, maybe some people do that but don't think it's common.

Well I know Matt and Lu would be kissing under the mistletoe, Innocent would probably be decorating with lots of glitter, and the rest of us would be partying.

Thanks for the mention, @Petal

1) Who was the first person you remember speaking to on SF? Was it that persons first impression that made you stay?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was either Winter Blues or gypsylee, neither of whom seem to have posted in a while ☹️ They definitely made me feel welcome here..

2) When you joined SF, did you think you would make it until today? Reasoning?

I liked the vibe here from day one, SF was recommended to me by a good friend I met on another forum, one that was/is ad-crazy and overmoderated. I like the fact that the members here are treated like adults...and I can say "fuck" without having to write "f.u.c.k." 😁

3) I really wanted to make a thread on this but didn't want to sound like a total fool, for those of us not from the US/Canada, what is the difference between thanksgiving and Christmas, without the religious background what is done differently? I'm a Yank, and celebrate neither holiday...

I am probably not qualified to answer this one 😁

Thanks for the tag @Petal :D

1) Who was the first person you remember speaking to on SF? Was it that persons first impression that made you stay?

@Walker was super cool when I first got here (still is). He’s the reason I’m able to be so active on here, even if I’ve been a little more depressed recently and unresponsive.

2) When you joined SF, did you think you would make it until today? Reasoning?

Yeah, I joined not suicidal, but anticipating I would be as the year went on. It’s always a cycle with me and the winter really makes me miserable. The funk has been hitting me hard recently too...

I don’t like being in charge but I do love champagne and making other people drunk with me. I have expensive taste so I hope you nerds enjoy Veuve Rose!!!

1) Who was the first person you remember speaking to on SF? Was it that persons first impression that made you stay?
I have no idea who the first person I spoke to was, I can not remember now my memory is awful at the best of times!
2) When you joined SF, did you think you would make it until today? Reasoning?
No way in hell did I think I would be here at all. Hell I am 31 soon I have been working in my Job for a year now and have seen studying for a year and a half. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be in the place I am today.
3) I really wanted to make a thread on this but didn't want to sound like a total fool, for those of us not from the US/Canada, what is the difference between thanksgiving and Christmas, without the religious background what is done differently? Well me being from Aussie land I probably have just as little understanding as you on this topic as you!

I feel like you would be decorating and spreading the Christmas cheer, no joke when ever I think of Christmas I think of you and all the excitement it brings you!
As for the rest of it I have no idea!

Thanks for the tag @Petal *hug
So yesterday I spent the morning baking for my boyfriends family chocolate cupcakes so I decided to bring y’all some (those are not mine but close enough ;)) CEB26F17-5E80-4363-B605-15B36E24D4E5.jpeg
1. When I first entered SF I walked into a very busy chat and the people were so nice and supportive, I decided to stick around for awhile, lurked until I gathered enough courage to talk in chat myself.
Afterwards I started talking to @Flowerdream because her story is similar to mine and I thought I will be able to help.

2.Not at all, I was absolutely certain I won’t

3. *hiding I’m in a jewish country, hence we have festival of the all holidays, Hanukah, Christmas and new year mixed together with all the symbols and such

1) Who was the first person you remember speaking to on SF? Was it that persons first impression that made you stay?
I really can’t remember who I spoke to First, It wasn’t a particular person that made me stay, it was more of a ‘what have I got to lose’ kind of attitude. Time went on and @AFlower & @may71 became 2 of the people that made a huge impression on me and showed me that not everyone is bad.

2) When you joined SF, did you think you would make it until today? Reasoning?
No! I didn’t think I would last an hour let alone a year!

3) I really wanted to make a thread on this but didn't want to sound like a total fool, for those of us not from the US/Canada, what is the difference between thanksgiving and Christmas, without the religious background what is done differently? Are gifts exchanged, a turkey cooked?
I was only talking about this the other day and I’m clueless!

4) Who would be doing the partying/decorating if SF were a village? Who would be Mr and Mrs clause?
Not me, I hate this time of year.
Sorry lol

Thanks for opening, the tag and questions @Petal...love your new avatar by the way...

1) Who was the first person you remember speaking to on SF? Was it that persons first impression that made you stay?
I believe it was @JmpMster who made a point of really reaching out to me and made me feel like a worthy individual ..and over time meeting so many other amazing people that I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to get to know and share my trials and tribulations and hopefully give back some as well...so to speak...

2) When you joined SF, did you think you would make it until today? Reasoning?
I actually wasn't sure...as was facing "early retirement" from a 31+year career as the primary breadwinner in a field of limited jobs but having to remain where I was..through the support here was able to venture into a new field and landing a 2nd job at 56...possible thanks to everyone here....

3) I really wanted to make a thread on this but didn't want to sound like a total fool, for those of us not from the US/Canada, what is the difference between thanksgiving and Christmas, without the religious background what is done differently? So from my own personal experience....Thanksgiving is basically eat till you feel like a beached whale -- turkey and lots of stuffing---and then be horizontal watching football...and then facing the dishes.... Christmas is more getting up early having a special breakfast....putting on xmas music...exchange a few gifts and eating a special meal (options include turkey, ham, lamb, prime rib, lobster) in a leisurely way

I think all would be partying and decorating given all the creativity that everyone has here....think the cocktails would be brought by @Ash600....Mr. & Mrs. Caluse & the mistle-toe smoochers would be @Freya & @Walker ....

@Walker was the first person that said welcome and then @Witty_Sarcasm @Cynic Goat and @Woowoo. Yes, difinately a great crew of people.

2) When you joined SF, did you think you would make it until today? Reasoning

Not sure, @Petal but today, i dont think that when friends get things like breast cancer diagnosis or i pass graveyards, that should be me, so i think i'm in a healthier place, and that's because of here and the energy of the people here, i know this is a fact.
