I celebrate Easter in a religious way because otherwise other than the fact that I am a Christian it is an ordinary day. Today will be interesting as my siblings and I are celebrating together without the children and grandchildren. Hasn’t happened before but I organized the gathering and they couldn’t attend. As it’s a rainy day it’s probably a good thing because the family would fill the house.

I really love the 4 day weekend and the chance to chill out a bit, as well as excuse to eat chocolate eggs. Am going to my sister's later for a family meal, I usually enjoy the food, but can feel a bit fraught like Christmas - though doesn't feel the same pressure as at Christmas. Usually prefer Easter to Christmas as the weather is turning nicer - but this time round had a storm blowing over - though currently blue skies and dry! 🐰🐣🐥

Hello SF family!

Today is Easter, which is an interesting holiday in that it is both secular and religious. It can also be a stress producing family event like Christmas for some folks.

So, do you celebrate and how do you if you do?
Hello! Easter wishes to those who are celebrating. Interestingly lol , I got this on Friday. The calendar notification " happy good Friday , the day Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross "

So , I thought Easter was then. But alright , I could be wrong obviously.

I do not celebrate. I am sorry if it is stressful for you.. I hope it goes with ease and you find some peace if it is like that. If it a fun time for you , I hope you enjoy.

Thankyou for the tag lane

I love Easter and have always celebrated it. I don’t come from a religious family and am not religious myself either. I usually decorate in some way like with cute bunny figurines, plushies, fake eggs and then doing a card and chocolate exchange with my mom.

As a kid we always had Easter egg hunts so that was a lot of fun. I always liked the fun colors of the Easter baskets too.

This Easter is a little sad for me. The tradition in my family was to have a big get together on Easter at one of my aunt’s house. She’s getting older, and there’s not so many of us left anymore… so this is the first year it’s not happening. Well, people get older, it’s what we do. All things come to an end eventually. It’s okay and I am glad that I got to have the gatherings when I was growing up. It’s also a bit strange to not have the big gathering this year.

As a clergy abuse survivor Easter is hard for me. I try to just treat it like a normal day.
Nobody should have to go through that. I’m sorry that happened. You didn’t deserve it, and neither does anyone else. I don’t know if it helps to know there are many people in a similar situation, or if that just makes it worse. But anyway, I wish that no one would be violated by someone in power just for being vulnerable. It makes things so much worse for the victims.

Nice café @Angie : )

🐣🌱 For Easter weekend I celebrate Spring, longer lighter days, and generally love and peace 🩷. I try to make something tasty for supper. I made an iced carrot cake for dessert later. While I'm no longer a practicing Catholic I appreciate the idea of renewal in a secular kind of way.

Thank you for the tag @Lane.

Happy Easter everyone!

Not really. Sometimes my mother (who is a primary teacher) gets Easter chocolate eggs from mothers, and as she don't like chocolate, I eat some of the chocolate.

But I don't remember celebrating Easter in my life. I think here in my country Easter is really a celebration for people who are heavily catholic.

Some smaller towns usually have Passion of Christ enactments (with a person carrying the cross and everything), but it isn't something very widespread.

No real celebration today for my end. I appreciate the holiday and what it is and stands for. My family getting older where there are fewer or us and we ain't as mobile as when younger does slow things down especially on getting together as family.

Happy Easter to the group that does celebrate. Relax, take time to think and feel wishing a fine time.
