One role model for me would be my mother, well Foster mother who took me in at a young age. She was full of energy and from the depression era. Taught me the value of hard work, saving money and much more. She didn't smoke or drink and like to laugh. She had a sixth grade education but was worldly in other ways. I miss her.

Good morning @Lane!

So happy to see you start a Cafe!

Role model is a tricky one, they have changed throughout my life. For how to treat other people, I would like to be like Jesus. For how to write I aspire to write like David Foster Wallace.

I'll give this some more thought!

Thank you for tagging me Lane! :)

Yeah, role model is a tricky one for me as well... I wanna say female musicians like Joan Jett and Courtney Love, but Courtney is probably not the best person to look up to :P I think I would call them inspirations instead of role models. I wish I was as brave and as outspoken as them. I also wish I could write music as good as Kurt Cobain and Brody Dalle.

But I don't know, if it wasn't for their music (and for who they are), I think I would still be a shy, quiet, and unconfident girl that I was before.

I would say my Grandma, because she abolutely adored me. She made every second count. Treated me like I was a star. Was the funniest, most charming person I've known. Maybe that's not the best word? Very charismatic, and energetic. Endless enthusiasm towards life. So much vitality. Very, very spectacular person. Whom I could only aspire to be (a fraction, of~* . . .) / You felt cherished, and you felt loved in her presence. She made you feel special. And spoiled you!

I'm not sure I have a role model at my age but my brother and sister-in-law really exemplify the Christian couple. They just took in a homeless man - a high school friend of their son - and working on getting him independent and on his feet. He had been living in a tent a 100 miles away and finally called the son for help. Since then they got him glasses and a bike, he got himself a job, and is learning to drive. He lives at their house and supposedly contributes to helping out.
I'm not sure I would do that although I have been asked to house my niece - sister to the son etc. She doesn't want to live at home but has a bad rental situation and is trying to be independent herself.

Thank you for opening and the tag @Lane

Do you have a role model(s) that has shaped your life and how?
i would have to say that it changes. i have taken certain aspects i admire from many people to shape how i am. Not who i am... because that is a completely different situation. However, how i am comes from how i want to treat and care for others. First and foremost my father, then comes Robin Williams, Jim Henson, Betty White. There has been people throughout my life that i have adopted thoughts, feelings and actions from. Anyone who has opened my eyes to new ideas, thoughts, and opinions. Last but certainly not least, those who show respect, selflessness and a genuine care for others. i have taking what i have seen, heard and experienced from many, and adopted those into the way i treat others.

My dad. Looking back, he did his best with a bad situation and ensured that I came out of it okay. He was tough when he needed to be and he was there when I needed him, as much as he could be. I miss the old man.

And when I see how my life is turning out as i slowly get it together, i see his influence on me. He was a special ed teacher, i work with kids with ASD. I play guitar like he did, ive started noticing more of my mannerisms and little things i picked up from him like bits of his accent with certain words and phrases.

Thank you for the tag and for posting this cafe @Lane :) Sorry for no reply before now, not really sure if I really have a “role model”, but there’s lots of people I admire anyway :)

Various actors, singers, authors and artists, and also my mom, sis and friend because they are all strong and inspiring in different ways :)
