I think it's amazing that you guys have kept Jim's Cafe going for all these years. I remember when this first started, and remember Jim, of course, like many others. R.I.P.
"Jim's Cafe" has been going as long as I've been coming here, which is almost 7 years. :o I've never really posted here, though. Mind telling me who Jim was?
Jim (his username was @jimk - click on that and you can still view his profile) was a member here who was the one that usually started the Café thread every morning. If I remember correctly, he was a retired accountant in his 60s and would often mention his autistic son Johnny (affectionately called "Zoomies") who lived with him. I also remember he loved music, movies and collecting DVDs. @SillyOldBear was lucky enough to meet him once at a local mall as they lived in the same area.
He passed unexpectedly from natural causes in April, 2014.
The daily threads used to just be called the Café. After he passed, it started to be called Jim's Café in his honor. Here is the link to his memorial thread:
I just started coming around again more often the past few days. I haven't been on here, really, in a few years, minus the occasional log-in once or twice a year, maybe. And some people I used to talk to still remembered me, even. I was surprised. But, SF is filled with kind and caring people who do remember people and wonder how they're doing when they disappear for a while.
Thought I would pop in to say hello as it has been a couple weeks since I last logged on. Doing pretty well here. Just taking a week off of work this week to catch up on sleep.
