Those are some wonderful train images and looks like beautiful scenic countrysides to view and take in. I have never travelled too much in life and that is one of the reasons I enjoy all the pictures that others share of their experiences and travels in various sections and threads. Explore a place from the air conditioned house here. 
My favorite train is Sierra No. 3, the 1890s steam train that has been in scores of TV and movies but I always think of it as The Hooterville Cannonball from Petticoat Junction and Green Acres.

sooooo oooooooooh, when I was in college in the Midwest, I had a dog but hated the idea of putting him in a box and in a jet cargo area so we traveled via train. and that is where and how I came to love trains. we went between NY and KCMO many times and it was a lot of fun (except for the first time when they insisted he go in the baggage car) . but we got what I think was called a slumber coach. everything you need in an amazingly tiny space but still with head room and dog room. he was happy. even got to take him out at some stations for a walk. ahhh that was nice... good old days... miss him still! 👽
I would say i'm very on board with this cafe, since i'm also a fan of a good train ride - some of my favourite random encounters have been on trains. I'll particularly never forget you, guy with an entire case of beer...
But to come pick me up, you'd need to go through Northern Rail. So, uh, i look forward to seeing the SF replacement bus service.

What a wonderful cafe-- love all the pix and stories of train travel! When I was in Europe eons and eons (eg. multiple decades) ago...I was so spoiled by the easy train travel I realized...as when we were considering taking the train to avoid flying... it quickly became obvious that there is a noticeable difference ... so needless to say we flew...
But past train trips have included New Zealand...
NZ -- Yes was foggy/raining whole trip on south island Tranzalpine ;( (so much for seeing spectacular views) but met fascinating couple from the Isle of Man...

On way to Zermatt with views of Matterhorn
And have to give a nod to many many years of commuting into Philadelphia to 30th Street Station ...
Now that have lived on West Coast for 20+ years....miss commuter trains soooo much....

hey Kiwi, glad to see you. (i haven't seen you in a long time! - that's probably me though) and glad to see everyone too!
i always say there is a spirit on every train. ok, some may argue the "spirit" point of this, but it is still a "spirit" to love train travel. it is mystery; seeing things you've never seen before; knowing that there are people and things from all over going everywhere; and the clickety clack of course and the long distant whistle: and some how a jet plane just doesn't have that quality.
makes for memories and dreams and to me at least illustrates what life is all about. sigh....

Thanks for this exciting cafe Ess and for tagging me @dandelion s & @Kiwi2016. I grew up taking the 4 train into NYC to visit my biological mother once a month from a baby until in my teens. But I like taking a train ride, especially the auto-train where you put your car on the train and you sleep overnight.
As for where I'd like to go on a train, I think I'd be great to start with some cool places in my country, USA.

Photos from a family vacation to TN back in 2015. It was my little sisters first trip out if state and she enjoyed every minute of it.
My dad loved trains and i think his fondness of trains rubbed off on me. He told me one time that he wished he could be a train engineer instead of a truck driver, but he still enjoyed trucks.
If there was a train ride wherever we went on vacation, dad would always want to do one.
Some of my greatest memories. i miss you so much dad.

Thanks for opening and inviting me @dandelion s ! My most likely upcoming trip would be out towards Philly to visit my sister and I'd probably take Amtrak. Dunno when, especially with my classes starting. Would still love to go to London but probably won't have a chance soon due to how busy I'll be.
