OK, new month and either new goals or a continuation of our healthy goals. What are yours?

I start with a nutritionist tomorrow and a personal trainer. I'm seeing some gainz! I'm enjoying CrossFit and it is the only good thing in my life right now, so I'm thrilled to get some individualized attention.

Other than that, picking up my runs from 1-2 x a week to 2-3. Gonna try to swim 4-5 x a week too if I can. I'm hoping to just distract my brain with activity.

Would love to hear about everyone else's July goals!

I will continue with working out either 5 or 6 days a week. I took one day off in the past 8 when I started with this. I am considering either just Sundays or both weekend days, not sure yet about taking off 2 days in a row....I'll still do my yoga several days a week at home.
I am looking at taking gluten out of my diet completely. I think it's creating some issue even though I don't eat much of it, I'd like to see what zero in my system accomplishes.
Have a good visit tomorrow with the nutritionist and fun with your trainer!

Thank you!

And good luck with the gluten. Let me know if works for you!

I met with my nutritionist / trainer today. We had a great workout and I'm set on my new diet goals. It will be difficult... I'll actually be eating more, rather than less. This should help me build some muscle (eating specific things to trigger that).

Got really despondent though when she took my measurements and I cried. The way I measure myself is different I think and gives me numbers that I am more at ease with. Her version was SO different and the the difference was jarring. I'm kind of upset, and my Body Dysmorphia has flared up hard. So, taking the rest of the day easy. I have to remember I'm working hard and have goals that are still attainable. Just disheartened to be so far away from where I thought I was. One step forward, two steps back.

Sounds like you are doing really well and being very disciplined though @A_J_R. It's just a temporary set back, you are on your way forwards for sure!

I'd love to hear what your diet for more muscle mass is like, would you be ok sharing that?

I'm doing really bad today, diet-wise, I think I will skip over the details!! *shy But overall it's not too bad, just having trouble staying consistent.

Thank you for this. I'm really struggling with those numbers. They shocked me. She told me not to obsess over them but of course, I'm obsessing. Btw, having a bad diet day isn't bad. We all need to enjoy food and not struggle with it. I'm trying so hard to learn that.

I'm happy to share my diet, but I"m just learning it myself. So, I am not quite sure where it will go, and there will be tinkering, but overall, I'm eating 5 meals a day (2 of which are shakes), and I'm portion controlling them with some tupperware I bought that has three sections (one large one, two small) and I'm to have so many servings of:

Protein
Veggies
Fats
Carbs

And so the larger part of the tupperware is for veggies and the smaller parts are for the proteins, fat and carbs.

I'm not sure this makes sense, so I'm adding two screenshots of how it breaks down and the sample meals she offered to get me started. Screen Shot 2021-07-02 at 2.02.34 PM.png Screen Shot 2021-07-02 at 2.02.44 PM.png

Wow, that's interesting, thanks @A_J_R. I'm guessing you must be doing a lot of exercise to deal with that? (From my perspective, post menopause I think I would probably not be able to do this diet) It sounds very healthy and well thought out although there are a few things on there I couldn't eat like the wheat and beans. Again it sounds like you are very disciplined. I'm sure as you see good results it will get easier to stick with it.

I'm post menopause too, so now I"m panicking, but she does know that. I do work out quite a bit. Today I worked out for 2 hours (with the personal training) and do Crossfit 3x a week and run 2-3 x depending (only about 3-5 miles). And I have a pretty boring diet. But the goal is to eat more so your body can produce that into muscle. I actually average 1200 calories daily or even just 1000 on bad days, but I'm not skinny. So we are giving the body energy and nutrients that can produce fuel and strength. That's the hope, anyway!

Good workout, Yay!, I'm sad to hear you got the jarring information. You sound very dedicated and I'm glad you believe your goals are attainable. You sound like me, I need to eat more so maybe at some future time if you are comfortable and care to, you might share about some foods she suggested as muscle building.

Yes, as we go along and I learn more, I will definitely let you know. It's a freaky thing... eating MORE, but also I would love it too. Anything can be tinkered with. And thanks for your encouraging words.

I’ve began to replace my fast food lunch with fruit and vegetable trays at Walmart. So far so good, but haven’t seen the weight loss like I want. I’m bloated at the moment so that may be why. I do feel better.

Definitely waiting til after the holiday weekend to go back into the daily grind. I am trying to recover from sore hamstring in right leg, for some reason weeding/mowing from tuesday has aggrevated that muscle and its 1230am sunday morning it still is sore when i press at it . I had to throw in the flag and soak my legs tonight on top of things i had to do before tomorrow.

Absolutely, when you transition from unhealthy to healthy foods, you will definitely feel the bloat! Give it some time. And glad you are working on that.

So sorry to hear that. Hope the soreness resolves itself soon.

I have a mild ache in my right calf myself. I think it's just from my weightlifting classes. It feels better today, but I do know that those aches can be distracting and keep us from more physical activity. Good you are resting it.

you amaze me. You keep going and living in spite of pain. I wish I could do same. I will say I tried and failed. Sadly.

Thank you for seeing something I'm still hoping to feel. Living. The working out is a first time thing ever and it's being done first thing in the morning before I talk myself out of going, it's to see if it helps my mental state. And it also takes up 2 hours of my day and that's a distraction and passing of time. I'm trying to create a habit so the daily is what I'm doing right now. I've heard here in SF that working out has helped some with some people so I'm giving it a try, I hope I stick with it long enough to see some kind of response. It took a long time for me to step out and give this a try...
I wish something for you*hug
