Memories of Those Lost but Still Loved

Remembering how my uncle is always there for me. It's been 9 years and yet I feel him when he knows I am wanting to talk to him the most. I just know. I don't care if it makes me seem crazy to believe I get messages from him. Those who live in on our hearts never truly die.

Missing my friends Robi and Karen, both of whom died in their early 40s, about two years apart. They were in-laws (Karen was married to Robi's brother), and we were all close, with an extended circle of mutual friends. Karen died of breast cancer at 45, Robi from a hematoma caused by a freak accident (blow to the head). He was only 41, and a promising musician. Karen was a psychiatric nurse. Beautiful souls, both of them.

Oh, I'm so sorry.

I had a good friend who died at 48 of a heart attack, and it was very difficult. I think of him every day.

Strangely, his wife passed away just a few years before. She died suddenly as well, and the whole thing was just a shock to the system.

The whole thing was such a loss and so confusing. Life (and death) is so strange.

Thank you for commiserating @A_J_R. I'm sorry about your friend and his wife..

Yeah, sad and strange how crap like this happens. Compounding everything is the fact since my friends' deaths, the circle of friends had more or less disintegrated, and we've all been slowly drifting apart over the last ten years. You'd expect losses like this to bring people closer together, but more often than not, it's the exact opposite...

It sucks..

I lost an autistic young adult to my charity this week. 18 most beautiful soul took his life first loss to our charity ever . And we have supported 1000’s autistic children to adulthood. He was due to be the lead in our autism has talent in the summer . I think it was actually an accident but who knows he was on the edge. I’m sad and I’m sad for his family. But what I do know is that autism is complex and we don’t truly know in society how complex and troubling it is. So memory today is of him smiling last week at the over 18+ cocktail night when he danced his little arse off and smiled with a huge glow and said I’m so happy tonight xxx bless you C I’ll miss you xxxx

I'm so sorry 😔

My son is on the spectrum, so this is particularly resonant. Sometimes I curse myself for bringing him into this cruel excuse of a society/world.

Anyway, I'm deeply sorry for your loss.

My uncle just passed away about 10 days ago and it already hurts for me and the family but I am greatly affected by this in a way that still, eventually, people and your loved ones die and I can't see myself coping if anything else like this happens.

He will be forever remembered of course but my whole world is just so sad with my family feeling incomplete. I just hope to be able to see all my departed loved ones one more time soon.

@clairedelune So sorry to hear of your loss. It does create a hole in one's life. But the memories you have and the love you shared will be there forever. Hang on to those memories. Share them with people. They will help keep your loved one alive.

PS, Claire de lune is one of my favorite pieces of music. always has been.

Still remember your smile and how it would completely turn around even the worst of days. How that laugh could uplift whatever room you were in. The way you always thought your hair was a mess even though it looked perfect to me. How the sound of your voice could completely calm any feelings of anger or agitation. How even after years, hearing you say my name was just as amazing to me as the first time I heard it. Still think about you every day, 30 times a day. Dream about you. Wake up thinking about you. Time heals, they say, yet every day seems harder than the last. You didn't just leave a hole in my heart. You left behind an empty husk who's left simply existing.

My broken mind is playing tricks on me. There's a voice calling me, like a distant siren tempting me to drift out to sea. Promises of sleep. Of peace. Telling me everything I want to hear. What shred of sanity I still hold on to knows it's a lie, but I hear the tempting call repeatedly. Wish your voice was still here to cut through the fog and lead me back to shore.

I am so sorry for your loss Wayne.
This thread is beautifully written and I can relate to every word.
It's a lovely tribute but also expresses such pain and a soul that has lost its way.
I am sorry that you are hurting so much and I'm sending hugs your way *sadhug

Thank you. I wholeheartedly apologize if my post brought any sadness to you. It just helps somewhat to write out how I'm feeling. I'm also sorry if you're hurting in the same way. Wish I could take that away from you.

It's all OK, I understand the need to write things. I lost my husband and the pain still remains very raw.
Please know that you are not alone and we are here for you.
Love and warm wishes
