Both of my sisters have a step-son (one sister and I are adopted, being blood related means nothing to me because I’m not blood related to anyone in my family, I only mention the “step” part because it’s relevant, they haven’t known us their whole lives). Now that I think of it, my older sister is technically my mom’s step-daughter, but she’s closer to our mom than her own, and has always just called her “mom.”
Anyway, they are really good additions to the family. They’re really nice guys. There was a family get-together last week, both were there, and I was thinking that.

As a 9 year old who was singing Happy Birthday to our house helper, that night when the news broke the tv show they were watching, I just watched there seeing the smoke, at first it was a fire they said, later on they said it was an attack.
We live on the other side of the world, I understood what happened but my heart couldn’t process it.
As the years passed by, it sinks in to me how heavy the situation was, and it still continues to feel heavier each year.
I have no relatives or connections to the lost lives that day, but I feel the sorrow loosing the lives of so many innocent people just going out through their day, minding their own lives.
25 years. 9/11 changed the world forever.
