To the OP: I didnt mean to imply that your bf is a pedophile. I'm sure he's a nice guy and he cares for you and all. I don't know what its like where you're from, but where I come from(NY, USA) It's a felony for an adult to have "relations" with anyone under the age of 18. If he was caught, he's be thrown in jail for a considerable amount of time, then once he got out, he'd have to register as a sex offender and would be monitored by the authorities for the rest of his life. As you can see, its a pretty serious crime where I'm from.

Thats why I said you shouldn't be telling people about it, especially not your parents. If you did that here, someone would definitely report him as that kind of thing is viewed with disgust and contempt(not you, your bf) Thats not my personal opinion btw, thats just how things are here.

But maybe the laws and the culture are different where you're from. If so, then I take back what I said.

That is serious, Alexpt, I did not know that. In Australia (where I'm from) it's legal to have sex from age 16 onwards.

The age of consent in New York state is 17, you may be thinking of California, where i'm from, the age of consent is 18, generally most state's in the US the age of consent is 16. To the OP i know how you feel i met my current bf at 13 i was a freshman in highschool and he was a senior he was 18, he met my parents a year later when i was 14 and him 19, before they met him they said i could never see him he was too old, then they met him and i'm now 17 and he's 21, we've been together since they met him, your parents initial reaction may be bad and you may go through some rough times, since i didn't have him meet them for over a year things were very rocky, we were on and off because i could never see him cuz i had to hide it from my parents, my best advice is to tell them and see where it goes, take a shot at it, you have nothing to lose really.

17, 18, whatever.......the OP is only 16 anyways, so my point to her is still valid. Don't quibble.

13 and 18 huh. Wow. I know thats only 5 years difference and all, but that seems more wrong to me than 16 and 23 lol.

This thread has got me thinking, lots of people seem to be saying that this kind of thing is perfectly fine. So I'm just wondering where everyone's limit is? For instance, I'm 27. If I were to create a thread saying I'm dating a 14 year old but it's cool cause we're both in love and shit. would ya'll give me support, or call me a sicko?

Well, almost everyone here is sick because we're in Suicide Forum. Sick because of traumas and events and the current state of mind.
So, being love sick would not be any worse than being sick in the mind. Age doesn't make a damn difference as long as it's within the law.
