I respect your feelings of wanting it to stop but I just want to tell you it's actually quite common or.. it's not that abnormal . It happens.
I am sorry
And now my coworker just made me upset.

She said that I need to talk to my parents about this, and it didn’t go over well with them.

She also said that she doesn’t know how to help me, and said sorry.

Would you like to elaborate ?
Would you like to answer this , are you trying to date her ?
What is she trying to help you with ?
If you don't want to answer any of those questions , I respect that
It sucks , no ? We want something and it doesn't happen or it feels like it's close to happening but then shit happens instead.
All your feelings are valid. You can take your time to be sad / frustrated / angry or literally any other emotion you're feeling , feel it.
I am sorry you're going through so much.

I just found out my grandfather passed away this morning. He was in his late 80s and very sick, so it's not exactly a surprise, and i'm handling it alright. Still, it felt wrong to say it's a petty complaint. It's major even if i'm handling it ok.
i'm sorry that you lost your grandfather. even when it's not a surprise it still hurts and is a major complaint. i hope you take care of yourself during this trying time.

A discussion earlier touched on something I’m sensitive about so I felt it a bit deeper.

How much you get in disability benefits is based on how much you’ve paid in. It’s most similar to a mandatory insurance policy.

Receiving disability is no more “living off the taxpayer” than having your insurance pay a medical bill is “living off the insurance company.”

It is your money. You paid so that it would be there if you needed it.

If a casino pays out on a good bet, is it an act of charity? How is this different?

Keep in mind that if you did not pay into disability, you are ineligible for it.

That’s leaving aside how I feel about gov’t benefits in the first place. I have been on those as well, at certain times. I don’t think they should be a source of shame or ill-feeling, just making the point that one is not the other. I know what kind of country I want to live in, and that’s one that takes care of its people.
