when my kids lived at home almost all the Christmas money was spent on them, as it should be. for the last 15 years or so most of the money goes to gifts to each other. we do all our shopping for the kids, grand kids, and friends and the rest we spend on each other. well about 5 or 6 years ago my wife started bugging me in october that i spent more on her and she couldn't spend as much on me (we share the money and i pay bills etc.) well that year i let her buy me a lot more than i bought her. since then same argument every year so i kind of even it out. but really as the husband shouldn't i give more to my wife than she gives to me, or am i old fashioned lol...mike

You are a bit old fashioned, lol, but there are certainly worse ways of showing it. It's okay, you can let her spoil you once in a while.

When people dog ear all the pages in a book. Is that really necessary? How can you mark your place if every corner is folded down? It's almost as annoying as seeing food stains in books.
YES. I worked in the library in college and I used to hate this so much. I only dog ear if I don't have anything that I can use as a bookmark, and I would never LEAVE a page dog-eared. Sigh.

Yes, and I hate seeing food stains too. It's like, don't eat while you're reading books that aren't yours. Unless you can be careful.

Everything starting with "as the husband" is old-fashioned, I think. :D
Sure, it's about being equal, but it's not supposed to actually be applied so literally. It really doesn't matter how much you both give to each other, what matters is when you receive a gift you don't feel this little feeling of "need" to give back. The only reason for giving should be your love and wish to make your partner happier, not to be equal in the amount of gifts. So just make her happy by letting her buy you as much as she wants. *hug
