When I'm really tired and really sleepy and really brain frazzled and dying to go curl up in bed under a big comfy comforter (aka duvet), but the bed just seems so far away (it's 12 feet away...).

When you're being honest with yourself and others about your flaws you perceive as consistent failures, and it feels extremely vulnerable and terrifying, yet freeing at the same time.

When you are SO looking forward to a day to yourself (it's a very rare occasion with two kids and a husband who works from home) but your husband decides he worries about leaving you alone all day so phones your friend to come and babysit you...
Hey, at least he worries. Mine seems to do nothing of the sort.

When people are trying to ask something and they end up spelling what they're asking about. This didn't happen to me today but it has in the past and I just remembered it for some reason. For example, "Where is the milk? The M. I. L. K.?" Thank you but I do know how to spell words??... It weirds me out a little

Hahaha. Oh wow, that was awesome. I needed that.

When I'm at the butcher shops and I ask for a specific weight of meat, they always over weigh the amount and say "will that be ok?"
- No it fucking won't, if I asked for say, half a kilo of mince it's because that is what I want. You've got a set of fucking scales so fucking use it properly and don't try to hustle me.

How are they supposed to cut a small slice off at the exact weight may I ask? All they can do is make their best guess based on experience.

When I'm around co-workers who talk like this:

"If you come here, you better speak English. But the illegals should be kicked out of this country anyway."

"The kids planning walkouts at schools are just using excuses. If the people didn't get their hands on guns, they would just use something else."

Talking about another co-worker:
"I call her ma'am but I don't think she likes that. I think she wants to be a man. I'm just not that open minded I guess. I have a hard time with that."
"I agree with you. I feel pretty much the same way."
"I'm sorry, but if you feel that way, you need a shrink, not someone to change your body parts."

I get that I live in a conservative area, but fuck is it hard for me not to take this shit personally. And one of them yesterday was saying people here are too conservative. I'm sorry, but if you agree with any of that, you're not exactly liberal. I just hate being in a stark minority and feeling that I need to stifle my opinions or risked being ostracized even further than I already am.

oh god, @Witty_Sarcasm Now I understand your message. Don't get me started on politics. We're not allowed to do that here -- plus I'd drone on for hours. I'm passionate about my political views! haha You think I'm a jerk about regular day to day things? I start my morning with coffee and screaming at the TV like a football game.

I know it's not allowed here, so I won't delve into it further. But it shouldn't be so damn hard to treat other people like human beings. You don't accept them, fine, but don't talk about them like they're crazy or creepy or whatever. I don't even see how her wanting to be a man would affect them in any way. They just need something to talk about.

I probably sound as bad as them, but people not being accepting of others...I don't know, it bothers me. Especially when they haven't done anything wrong except be who they are.

I agree. People are just trying to live their lives. You do live in a conservative area so sometimes it's up to us to open the minds of people like that. You may do it and you may not. (I've managed to be really really good friends with some ultra conservative right wing religious folks in my day) Whatever the case, though, something you said might strike them later on. You do also have to accept that they're monsters. No, I'm kidding! You gotta realize that those thoughts they have are really ingrained in them. They literally just don't believe that people can possibly be born gay. Or that you should take meds for your depression. Or that _fill in the blank_... sometimes a push in the right direction is needed.

This person they talk about is pretty cool in my opinion. And the shrink comment was unnecessary as they already are seeing a psychiatrist and have mental issues. So I feel like my co-workers are close minded towards that as well. It's just weird because people will call this friend by their name that they chose (not their birth name), yet still call them female pronouns, when they want to be identified as male. So they talk about him behind his back yet act like they accept him to his face, and that kind of hypocrisy bothers me.

I realized a while ago that the whole concept of "gender" is both unclear and socially constructed. Therefore, I don't even acknowledge it when it comes down to it.
