Had to dash off to one of the local pharmacies to buy a bottle of antibiotic eye drops for my mother.
Jumped up little shit of a pharmacist couldn't get even more patronising if he tried with the stinking attitude he had. Even when I gave him a nudge by mentioning I'm in the same profession, he said "I'm just doing my job." Then fucking do it properly then and get off your plank.

Finally started getting a month's worth of Subs instead of 2 weeks. Probably because I've been giving them clean drug tests for a couple months now.

Went to the pharmacy to get them out. My script said 56 because it's supposed to be exactly 4 weeks worth. Pharmacy didn't bother checking my ID or anything, which was humorous to me because I couldn't have found that script on the ground and gotten away with it. And then on top of that, I look at the bottle and it says there's 60 of them instead of 56. I bolted out the door laughing my ass off.

@Ash600 How pissed off would you be if your pharmacy techs did some shit like that? Lol.

Pissed off wouldn't do justice to how my reaction would be were that to happen @AsphyxiateOnWords
I was furious enough when I walked in on a Monday about 3 weeks ago and some dickweed failed to order over the weekend enouth Subs to supply all the clients for that day. Not the first time it's happened either. This sort of thing just rattles my piss-cage.
I mean what the fuck was I meant to do, tell the patients "sorry chaps, we havn't got enough Subs at the moment to supply you all, so you're gonna have to take turns licking what tabs we do have."

Lol. I figured as much. And yeah, sometimes it's difficult to even find a pharmacy that has them in stock. I never understood why they couldn't just order them right away before they ran out so that type of shit didn't happen. Out of curiosity, how much does a Sub go for if you're paying out of pocket over there? I think it's like $10-$11 here. Luckily, I only have a dollar copay, my insurance covers the rest. But those things become expensive as hell if you don't have insurance.

Normally, they'll stock them if they have clients on them. In the area I work, you need to put in a tender to the local health commisioners to be considered for providing a substance misuse service. However, it stands to reason, make sure you've got enough to cover the scripts for your regular patients. Normally they'll be either on a daily pick up (supervised or take away) or be allowed to take a max of 14 days away with them As we're holding the scripts, it's not exactly rocket science to work out how much you're gonna be needing for any given week. It's just laziness or assholism when stocks run ridiculously low. When that happend at my place I just made a list of the patients I had, their doses be it Subs or Meths and worked out how much we'd need for up till 4th Jan and then told the fuckers to get on with ordering the requied quantities. Worked out as around 70 packs of Subs 2mg, 35 packs of 8mg and around 20 bottles of Meth, be it s/f or standard.

Prices of Subs : - 2mg pk of 7 is Β£6.35,
8mg pk of 7 is Β£19.05
ex VAT

However, they are prescribed generically as Buprenorphine as theoretically they are meant to be much cheaper. But for around the last 8/9 months or so, the prices have been fluctuating and supply shortages have resulted as a result of this. Costs have inevitably been driven up, approaching the same price as that of Subs. Previously, you would have been able to get a pk of 2mg for around Β£1, not so much more for the 8mg, but now you'd be dreaming.

But that's just the tip of the icberg, the whole generic drug supply chain is fucked up over here and it is the end user, ie the patient that suffers.

Talking about medication... This one is stupid, but I guess that's why it's petty complaints.
I got movicol from my dr, meant to take 2 a day and only realised how much help they are when in agony when don't use. Now some stupid dr prescribed a generic version that tastes too disgusting to use. So I asked them for a new prescription as I wouldn't take it. I got instead another more expensive generic version (which I haven't yet tried so shouldn't really complain about).

Damn, you have more people on 2's over there than 8's? It's so hard to find a pharmacy that even carries the 2's, 4's, or 12's. Most people get 8's. I've had different dosages in the past though, and no one ever had them. They had to order them especially for me most of the time. And jesus christ, that's cheap as far as prices go. Regardless of what dosage you're getting, they all go for around 10 per strip or pill here. Hell, they're even cheaper on the street than buying out of pocket from a pharmacy. Most people charge $5 for them because so many people get them prescribed nowadays and nobody really buys them.

Well we had enough 8mg already in stock, I just calculated the extra required on top of that.
Majority of patients will be on a combo of both strengths, normally at least one 8mg and then anything between 1-3 tabs of the 2mg.
Prices of branded drugs are regulated by the NHS so the manufacturers can't charge shit high prices. Traditionally, generic drugs are always cheaper than the brand, but with there being no price capping mechanisms in place for generic prices, loopholes have been exploited by discontinuing branded drugs and replacing them on the market with generics and charging them at eye-watering prices. Hence the situation we have at the moment.

Quite a few people compain about the generic versions of movicol. If you've got a good relationship with your dispensing pharmacy, then see if they can change the script to movicol on your behalf. Bribe them with cookies if need be ;)

I should so bring them cookies. Yeah, they requested a better version, it's just still a generic (I googled it. movicol is 10-12 for 30, the genericest is 3 for 30 and this is like 6/8 can't remember for 30). They told me that if you're prescribed branded they're allowed to give unbranded, but if prescribed unbranded they're only allowed to dispense that. I don't get why on earth they got me another generic version when they asked for movicol again.

Next complaint: I'm told to bribe people with cookies. The cookies I made last all spilled out of the containers (my fault for not wrapping them up well) and have freezer taste so can't eat them. And no one has yet offered to make me more.

Third complaint: I made chocolate corn flakes and I already finished eating them all!!!!!

Fourth: No one offered to make me cookies or chocolate corn flakes :(

Fifth: no junk food in the house unless I make some more

That should be the other way round actually, if it's branded, you must supply branded. Generic - can give either but it all boils down to reimbursement prices as pharmacies would naturally try to avoid dispensing at a financial loss, and there;s enough of that going on at the moment.

It's the same rules over here actually. If you're prescribed brand name drugs, unless the doctor specifically requests that the brand name is used, they're likely going to substitute it with a generic. Only way they won't is if they only have brand name in stock. But if you're prescribed generic, they won't give the brand name to you no matter what. I get prescribed brand name Suboxone technically, but I always get generic buprenorphine/naloxone.
