What the hell is the marketing campaign tactics and strategy with Planters with killing off Mr Peanut?
Was watching the news, and a new Planters commercial came on. Was not really paying to much into the commercial until they let Mr Peanut fall to his death. Then I was paying attention and then it went to Mr Peanut 1916 -2020. This really got me confused, as I was first thinking it was like the Priceline commercial when they also killed off their spokesman before bringing him back. But Mr Peanut is not a human being having a dispute with his contract. So I decided to Google, and Planters is going to have a Mr Peanut funeral during the Superbowl. Really, your going to have a Mr Peanut funeral commercial during the Superbowl? I can understand re-branding, but what do you replace Mr Peanut with, when your selling peanuts? Sure, you can bring him back, but you aired his funeral on the Superbowl. You just cannot walk this back with a new marketing campaign.
