I don’t have much control over my right arm and usually keep my hand in my pocket to keep from waving it around.
Today, I went to get blood drawn. When the phlebotomist was setting up on my right side, I told him he might want to use the other arm since I had spasticity in that one and can’t hold it still. He said it was alright. He proceeded to jab me several times without finding a vein, then, when he finally did, asked if I couldn’t hold my arm still for a minute so he could attach/detach the vials, then acted as though I was being overly dramatic by reaching over and holding it with the other hand.
Motherfucker, you saw me get out of my car with handicapped plates in the handicapped spot. You saw me walking with a cane and a very pronounced limp. I fucking told you what was about to happen. Why are you surprised when my body doesn’t work right?
edit: he wanted to use the right arm because the left has a bunch of tattoos. I’d kinda understand his logic, except that’s never been a problem before and I’ve had blood taken out of that arm plenty of times with no problem.
