There is liquor and liqueur.

The first is a distilled drink and the other is a flavored, sweet beverage with alcohol.

In english, liquor is meant to be whiskey, vodka, rum and tequilla. Here in my country we don't use that word for distilled alcohol for some reason but we use liqueur (licor) for flavored beverages.

So I thought the word had two meanings in different languages but actually it is two different words with different meanings that sound the same.

Maybe this will be useful for someone out there.
