I know this wasn't an actual Premier League game today since it was Champions League and against APOEL, but it involved Spurs so I will discuss it in this thread. I made the thread anyway, so I decree that it is allowed.
Anyway, I normally would have had class today, but I was so tired and didn't feel like getting up. Not the best idea when I'm already behind from being in the hospital. But I don't think I could've made it through that class. I'm surprised I stayed awake through the game. Not that football or Spurs are boring, but I've even fallen asleep watching ice hockey when I am sufficiently tired.

This game was kind of weird. Spurs definitely got through the first half on luck... I said as much on my Twitter and got a few likes on my tweet... surprised me because I feel like I don't totally understand football yet and it seemed far from an unusual or insightful thing to say. But I feel like I am getting it more and more lately. Like I've said before, I love to see goalkeeping and picked Spurs partially because of Hugo Lloris's placement on a list of top Premier League keepers. But I feel like for all the good saves he does make, I still keep seeing him screw up a lot. Maybe it's just my perception. I don't know. But today Hugo was trying to clear the ball away from the net, but then it bounced off another player and hurtled back towards the net. He chased after it but didn't catch up to it. Thankfully it went wide. I just remember sitting there saying "shit" under my breath a bunch of times watching that. That would have been probably the most ridiculous football thing I've seen (at least while watching an actual game) had it gone in. That and the general slow start for Spurs were the lowlights, but Harry Kane was the highlight. I think this was the third time I have seen him score a hat trick. That dude is insane. Was hoping to see Son score because I just love the guy, but Kane had the game's only goals. Good enough for me, I guess.

Where'd all the football fans go? This thread is starting to look like me talking to myself now. Maybe I need to find somewhere else to discuss this stuff too. Maybe I should have a blog about being a new football fan figuring out the ins and outs of supporting a Premier League team. Actually I did just that. spursdontplaybasketball.tumblr.com is the url. No posts yet. In the beginning i'm going to adapt some of the posts I made here into blog posts and see if I can backdate them to when the stuff happened. (warning: I may or may not choose to use the word soccer over football since I am not sure of the audience I will get on my blog if any.)
Well anyway, Spurs are somehow in third in the Premier League even though I feel like I keep getting disappointed by them. So that's cool I guess. Gonna work on getting some stuff onto my blog soon.

I think you made a good choice with Spurs. They have a really good manager and have challenged for the league the last couple of seasons.

I remember that 1978 game very well. Back in those days we could score and defend. Then again, we had players and a manager who knew what they were doing.

Found out a way to watch games later when I miss them live. Today I wish I hadn't :/
That was painful.
I'm glad my roommate wasn't home because he would have thought I was dying by the sounds I was making.

All I have to say is. SPURS BEAT EFFIN REAL MADRID!

Okay, guess I'll expand on it. I went to Piper's Pub for this match because my class was over early. Even if it hadn't been, I still definitely could've made it, but it gave me extra motivation. I wasn't sure what to expect for the game or turnout, but there was a sizeable crowd of Spurs fans. The one guy from the supporters club even remembered my name. The game was amazing, and I was nice enough to let a Real supporter sit at my table because they couldn't get the game to play on the other screen it hd been on. Spurs had a big enough contingent out that the people at Piper's turned up the audio for our match. There were a few Liverpool supporters by the door at the bar too. The Real fan left early. Not sure if it was because of the way the game was going or feeling weird with all us Spurs fans or if he was busy because he seemed pretty distracted. He shared his french fries with me though :) I had some onion soup and a Coke since I just got my money. I think it's definitely time for me to buy a Spurs tee shirt. After my roommate pays me back the money I have to lend him, probably. IDK. Maybe sooner. I'll have to see. Everyone from the supporters club is really happy. I managed to talk to a few after the match and told them my history of how I recently became a fan and the one guy kept sincerely telling me how happy he was for me.

I wasn't sure about today, but I feel amazing now.

On Thursday I finally ordered the tee shirt I'd been wanting. It's still being processed, but I hope I'll get it soon. I guess it's not urgent since it's international break. But I want this damn shirt! This is the one I ordered.

This time I just bought it from Dick's Sporting Goods since there's not crazy markup like on the jerseys, and there was free shipping. Gonna be nice to have more than one thing I can wear for game day. :)
