I've been on SF for a few years now. For a while I stopped posting, for a number of reasons...sometimes it didn't seem like I was helping, I kept on posting more or less the same thing so often, and sometimes what I would post seemed to just make things worse. And it was a bit overwhelming sometimes to see so many people who wanted to die so much.
About a year and half ago though, something just kind of clicked with me. I just realized that I should be here, that people were going to be suicidal whether I was here or not, and even if sometimes I got things wrong, on balance I was probably doing more good than harm.
If you post here often enough, it's really not possible to never say the wrong thing, or to never fail to say the right thing.
As much as it's important to try to say the right things, and to always try to improve, it's ok to be clumsy sometimes, because that's part of being human.
Sometimes all someone needs to survive is to know that there's someone out there who gives a damn about them, so even if you feel like your efforts to help are clumsy, they may be good enough.
There's nothing to forgive Alwayswrong, you're an angel. I've got nothing but praise and thanks for you.
