Fuck my stupid decision to rent an apartment with a west-facing exterior wall! That sun, holy crap. From 5:00 PM until about sunset, I am hearing little creaks an pops as the thermal expansion and contraction causes the metal frame of the balcony door to impact and then pull away from the drywall or whatever it's anchored on. The two expand/contract to different degrees at the same temp, so then I get noises. There's also a tiny crack that appeared in the wall, but I will notify the office about that when I don't have 3 other bigger fish to fry.
Fuck enablers. It's bad enough the world is full of people who do and believe terrible things to others, but I see an awful lot of people who could make things better if they didn't support or help these people continue their bad behavior. Yes it requires courage, and conflict, or even burning bridges or ending toxic relationships, but what's the alternative, allowing this person to continue to hurt you, themselves, or countless others? Enablers have destroyed many things in my life, including my now past two jobs. Enablers are the ones who never do or say anything when it matters, enablers help the bully give lifelong mental issues to those who don't deserve it, enablers cause so much damage even if they are the one who is not doing the bad behavior directly, I still hold them accountable.
Apple corp. They didn’t invent enshitification*, but they sure do it better than anyone else!!!
* - for the folks new to the word, enshitification means to start out with an awesome platform and thereby get a ton of users into the network and then pull a switcheroo where they end up monetizing their users’ data (private and behavioral) while letting the software go to shit. Micro$oft started it with Excel, and are taking it to new heights with their OS, which is why win11 is free, and XP was the last release that was good.
Zuckerberg figured out how to do it at a larger scale, but Apple. Holy smokes are they just amazing at doing this! It’s almost elegant as to the subtle ways in which they have figured out to tell the users they can take a hike. Android is not better, and it’s not like Graphene or Linux phones are about to take off! F*ck this entire century, holy god!!
