The Congaree NP trip was rescheduled due to a friend's illness, so I went to my backup plan and spent three days in Shenandoah NP. I saw the biggest variety of wildlife I've ever seen in such a brief trip: spotted skunks, wild turkeys, whitetail deer, timber rattlers, fire newts, box turtles...and a bobcat (!!), though he vanished like smoke before I could even begin to get the camera out. They are very secretive, and tend to stay deep in the forest. I was doing a hike in a pretty remote section of the park and got lucky.

I went to Maine last week for a long-planned visit to Acadia NP, as well as visits to Portland and Boston and the scenic drive down US 1. I managed to have a decent time, in spite of a depressive relapse that started around mid-August. Nothing is worse than starting a vacation while dealing with suicidal ideation...

Great pics with a hint of narrative. Thanks for sharing them. What a comtrast between Acadia National Park in Maine, with Boston Harbour. Acadia has a special place in my memory banks, so it was nice to see pics of it again.

This will sound weird, but I am sorry you can relate to some of the stuff in my post-script. My wish is that nobody would ever feel like that, including me. I would not wish this illness on anyone.
