I had to take similar tests to get my job, and I was sure I failed. Later I found out they don't expect people to be able to finish the tests.
There are a number of companies that does that. The real test, is seeing how the person deals with the stress with failing the test. Good example was in the movie Star Trek II, with the Kobayashi Maru to test the character of the student failing a test. If the subject is protesting, and over protesting, and demanding the testing was unfair. Well, it is a test of character without the loss or gain of profits for the company. If your in management, you can lose $10,000 for the company and can make $10,000 for the company or more or less in a single day. If your character is to be protesting, than your character can be negative if you lost money and over happy if you make money for the company. If that is your personal character, then it is unclear how you will be like from one day to the next. I do not object to the testing of character.

I don't agree with tests. I don't think they are a good measure of how successful one can be in a role, similar to how they cannot measure how successful one will be in school or college. I've never believed in tests like this, and I have always been wary of companies that weed out candidates in this way. It is overly cautious, in my opinion. The interview is the most telling, so they should have every person involved interview the candidate, including the executives. From an entire team's perspective and individual input, it can give the company great insight into that candidate. So for me, the in-person is what should matter, not some stupid qualifying test. One company previously weeded me out this way, their test instructions were not clear, so I told them it was an unfair test and that they lost a good candidate, lol.

Someone with intelligence can mask themselves with any interview, and it is harder to make a judgment of any person who does interviewing themselves. The hardest person to interview, is anyone working in human resource management. Character testing, and a character testing were everyone is going to fail -- is to weed out people with a personality disorder. I rather deal with anyone in management, that wants to talk and debate, about making long term policies that produces profits. Than dealing with management that wants to brag or protest about making daily profits or daily loses that is just nickles and dimes.

Character of management, there are management that protest if they lose less than $50 and become very happy if they make $50. To me, that is just nickles and dimes. Having a character testing, and everyone is going to fail -- and protesting with losing nothing -- is a good character test. If you are in management, and your protesting about losing nothing, than your going to be protesting about losing $50. Then we have to ask, what will happen when your dealing with real money.

What I've heard many times about these tests, is that it's more about the approach someone takes to solving the questions rather than anything else. As apparently that helps to determine the style of character of the applicant.
As you seem to be someone who's on the ball with a clear dynamic vision then hopefully they'll pick this up and take you on.

I understand WHY they’re given, I’m saying I don’t agree with them. That’s what the “probationary” period is for in the U.S. it’s to test out the new employee on the job. A person can also mask themselves on a test and give answers they think the employer WANTS to hear. The true test is on the job and within the first 6 months. No one can fully tell from either side what it’s going to be like until the person is working there. I’ve been fooled by companies many times so it goes both ways. I’m a believer in commanding as much power through the interview process as the employer has. The company itself deserves critique and scrutiny. I turned down an interview because the recruiter refused to send me the full job description before getting on the phone. Screw that. I’m not wasting my time if it’s not the right fit. My time is very valuable as is my happiness within a company.

Sure, people do mask themselves with interviews and mask their answers with character testing. Yes, I know it is all mind games and you have a probationary period with any employment. When I am dealing with a new person, and their company is agreeing to pay for my business dinner. I will order a second different drink, knowing that it will cost a few extra dollars. If the person is protesting, or protesting with talking about the added cost -- that is a red flag. I am dealing with having millions of dollars that are in play with my advice and my judgments. If we get into a debate about a drink that is under $5, your wasting your time and your wasting my time. If your protesting a drink, your missing the bigger picture, and I have bigger fish to fry.

Yes, I know about the probationary period. And I also know a former General Manager who embezzled $250,000 in one year, and the company only asked him to resign so it would not look bad with the stockholders. Sure, you can be on a probationary period, but walk away with a nice retirement package. Just saying, if you feel your going to be fired before your probationary period, you can alter the banking accounts around so nobody will notice until you leave the company.

Well regardless .. I had to take these tests and am waiting to see if I passed. I may have another job offer coming. I pray so as I feel like I’m getting laid off soon. My CEO can’t look me in the eye.

I'm really proud of myself, I have to say. I am doing very well at work, even under the stress of maybe being let go at any time. I had another big success this last week at work to be very proud of. I am making my clients successful, and I feel successful. It takes hard work, determination and a positive attitude each and every day to make this work. I am feeling good about myself today and right now overall. People try to tear me down all the time, but I don't let them. And people try to discourage me -- one example is of my boss trying to get me fired by talking smack about me to our CEO -- but my achievements speak for themselves, and I am surpassing anything negative that has been said about me. The CEO couldn't look at me for several weeks after that. He finally sent a smile my way this week, which made me feel good.
I feel unstoppable right now. It's a pretty amazing feeling -- YAY! *stars
