I'm always hoping to get to speak with people who have DID or the related dissociative disorders. I may be considered one myself being with hijacker. hijacker itself is not actually a complete personality on its own - that is, when hijacker comes around I don't find I had periods I cannot remember, but it is that hijacker's "will" prevails at times - particularly times of self harm - leaving me unable to oppose/contradict it. I find myself engaged in something I don't want and feel myself fearing and hating what is happening while being very aware of hijacker's feelings of pleasure and satisfaction.
Yes, I would like to listen to the podcast. Thanks for mentioning it.
I also have heard, and read an article that suggests DID is not a real condition. My feeling about this is - having spoken with people claiming to have DID - is that there has to be something going on for an individual to behave that way. In one way or another it is a real condition. I also do believe I have picked up on skepticism toward me when I've spoken about hijacker. at any rate, many simply don't understand what I try to explain. It becomes very frustrating leaving myself and I'm sure many with DID feeling alone and helpless in "the real world" while being trapped in my/their own real world of dissociation and being not believed.
