Uploading emoticon files to tim thru inbox

I uploaded some graphic files to tim. And he got them thru inbox. I then tried to upload a word docx file to doug tgat was two megs in size. The forum software didn't take it. I tgen tried to send more graphic files to tim, but the forum software now says "an error occured. The expected file was not an image file."

I suspect the word document is stuck in some sort of upload queue on ur side. When i try to upload a graphic file, sf tries to read the stuck word document file instead, and reports its not an image.

Who can look into this. I tried to upload the same graphic files tim previously recieved and they won't upload now either....

Send aPM to Tim directly and ask him how he would like them sent- but if they are too big to upload on here they are way too big to use at emotes. Tim does all prely as he has time and energy as a favour to all of us so when he gets time , as he gets time.

There is nothing "stuck " anywhere- try log out and log back in again or starting new thread/conversation if it is an autosaved reply you were trying to use.

Hi jumpmstr

I went to the community support section on xenforo's website. It seems this error comes up when the browser times out on doing an upload. I was using firefox on android, and tried using chrome instead. The upload worked with chrome on android. It used to work with firefox, so i'll look more into why it stopped...

Who's Tim? And what are you guys talking about, adding emoticons? That would be amazing! (the missing 'thumbs up' emoticon)
Tim os the emoti king. He volunteers to maintain the site software. I've been helping with drawing animated gif files that could be used as emoticons and tim has been adding them to sf.

Tim, a place like SF really needs an affirming emoji like 'thumbs up'. Grant us this boon, o' Tim, and I will be the first to bend the knee. ( a little over the top?)

Aren't there thousands of public domain emotis out there? I'm sure there are reasons why SF would need it's own hand crafted emojis, but since I'm not particularly web savvy, I don't know what they are.

Not sure about "expected image file" error but for large file 3rd party sites like Google drive, Dropbox etc would be a better option in my view.

Tim can later compress file as per his needs, thank you for trying to make SF better.

Hey @HumanExMachina if you're really motivated you can "steal" the emojis from chat. So the thumbs up guy is this -
and he's pretty cool. If you flip through the "screens" there it's on the last page (as are many of the animations and such) but if you're a phone user they may take a long minute to load.

Now people will be wondering why I pop into chat every once in awhile, post a dancing banana, and then immediately leave. I don't care I finally got my thumbsup
hahaha you don't even have to post it, you can steal it right off the page with the emoticons. I don't post them, I just steal them right off the page. Stick them somewhere and keep reusing them instead of waiting for them to load over and over.

Oh yeah, hours later I finally figured that out. A big DUH to me. (there's probably something like a forehead self smacking emoti over there but I don't have time to go look for it)

How does it stay in your phone if you upload it as a file? Is that strictly a phone thing? I've just been copying and pasting.

Behold! The awesome power of the Thumbsup! (/deep echoing voice)

oh god I don't know how you'd keep it in your phone. Just forget I said that. Just keep stealing them, man. But you don't have to post it to steal it. @HumanExMachina

I'm a phone person so I never use copy and paste (most likely a PC thing?)
When I'm searching the Internet for pics. for the Café etc. I download the images to my phone and then when I want to post them, I use the Upload a File button. It works the same way for the emotes. BUT, that was only when I downloaded the image from this thread. I've got no idea how it would be done if I went into chat.
Oh damn it! I'm confused! I don't do technology!!!
