This thread reminds me I'm coming up on two years. I started this thread when I was quitting smoking on Oct 1 so we're coming up on that. Makes me kinda happy. Man, life changes fast...
Is this quitting support thing still going I really want to quit. I smoke way too much I live in a household of smokers and have unsuccessfully tried to quit so many times. I quit weed a year ago no problems but cigarettes I just can't
Absolutely. The right time to start quitting is any time. Do you use any particular methods? Just curious, I'm no expert in them anyway. ^^ Let us know about your progress, your slip ups (they will happen, but that's okay). We're rooting for you any time.
Not sure where you're from and if these are available there. I'm in the UK and found these really helpful for the first few weeks.. View attachment 38526
I stopped smoking by completely ceasing to go outside. When I tried to smoke after quitting for maybe 2-6 weeks (not good with time) it felt disgusting and I did not want to smoke. I started smoking because it looks cool and it helps you die faster. I stopped because it costs money and I don't want to waste my man-child allowance on anything but the most important shit.
I tried smoking once. It was a bit of peer pressure, since most of male friends had already done that by high school. The cigarette tasted like ashes in my mouth. I've never smoked since that time but the pressure remains the same.

that's great @Sunspots i'm proud of you. it is really hard at first but eventually it doesn't bother us as much. although i still reach for a cig that isn't there once in a while. i know you'll reach 1 year.
be sure to take pride in quitting. tobacco is extremely hard to quit so that means you have strength. enjoy the extra life you gave yourself you've earned it.
It's been about 6 months and I gained weight along with a medicine that makes me gain weight. Yesterday I was stressed after hearing about a $700 mechanic bill and wanted to reach for a cigarette (I have a few I carry in my pocketbook)
I really think this is where the extra weight came from too.

I think I put on about 14lbs when I gave up smoking. I've managed to lose it (now I just need to lose the rest!)
A year on I still have the occasional urge for one so I really admire your willpower. There's no way I'd not cave in if I had one in my pocket. Well done!
