I went to the grocery store and got two bags of grocery for (at least) the next week. What usually takes me about 45-50 minutes, took move about two and one-half hours tonight because f'd-up hip and major pain on right side of body. Walking uphill is excruciating.
I had to walk two blocks uphill to get there and another block and one-half on flat ground. Got the groceries and started walking home.
This was my pace: small step, small step, small step, plant walking stick onto ground to pivot a step, bend over, pick up one grocery bag and move it forward about 6-8", sort of "glide back down" and pick up second grocery bag and move it forward about 6-8". Small step, small step, small step, repeat.
I made it about one-half block before this really nice European couple offered to help. They carried my grocery bags two and one-half blocks back to my apartment for me!! They were lovely; just lovely. And I got my grocery shopping done.
I MADE MYSELF, I WILLED MYSELF to move outside my apartment and walk outside and get groceries. Yes, it hurt like a new level of Hell, BUT, the walking helps me heal, I got outside, and I got my groceries.
I call that a very successful day.
