That's a good idea and I'll start doing that.
And a big part is make excersize fun, yeah right. LOL. That is one of the reasons I set up a PC where I can watch TV and movies while peddlin' my ass on the bike or rowing on the rower here, make it a bit of fun where you do not lose interest. Watching a show instead of just listening to music like most you see. Or course, experimenting with what works best for you is the ideal way to decide, but those work for me.

It's very good advice. I love working out, and I don't know how much you like to move around, but I found finding an activity you enjoy, like walking or gardening or even dancing around your house will do great wonders in terms of helping you lose weight, on top of a good diet where you don't feel like you're starving. I have a friend who just starting dancing around her house on a regular basis for about 30 minutes a day, while also cleaning up her diet and she's down 30 pounds (1 year in). The music makes her happy. So, I think the key to good health is to always do something you love, be consistent and just take good care of what you eat, but it's OK if you treat yourself.

I also think logging your meals helps too. It's how I know when I've been eating too many carbs or have gone over my calories. Then I'm more conscious of it.

Hi A_J_R, Social media makes it way too convenient to develop this kind of habit. I too had to break a social media compulsion that left me feeling left out and unwanted.
I am always asking myself this question: This action I am considering, will it make me feel better? Or worse. Doing this has helped me make better choices for many years.
I think that's a great question to ask yourself. My issue is the impulse to look at this person. I'm not saying I'm not in control, but with any addiction the voice that desires to look is much louder than the one that wants to take care of me. If that makes sense.

This week, I've been online a little less. So, I'm trying to just stay away from it more.

That said, I have made a ton of friends online. I used to travel quite a bit, and so I'd meet a lot of my online friends in person. One in particular is now one of my very best friends. The problem is, he's also friends with me ex, and he has no idea we were together, so he periodically brings up my ex. But anyway, I've made so many friends and have enjoyed many positive experiences online. So, I have to find a balance.

I'm going to do my best to ask that question though, every time I think about looking in on my ex. Because ultimately, you are right. I have choices. Thank you for this!

Would it be such a bad thing if your "very best friend" knew of that relationship? It sounds like you still care about your ex, perhaps a more pure friendship could form as friends. Of course I don't know anything about anything about the situation. But I do know ex lovers can make compassionate friends and that can be facilitated by mutual friendships. The hardest part is the risk of changing the current situation, which may change anyway, if your "very best friend" was to find out some other way.

I wish you the best possible outcome.

I've been writing about my ex elsewhere, so I won't go into it here. We're both married. The difference is he lied about his wife, and his other girlfriends. So no, we can't be friends. I sort of burned that bridge when I snooped on him and confronted him about what I found. Since then, I've struggled with not having him in my life. It's best he's gone. And I can't believe I wrote that because he's one of the great loves of my life and I miss him so very much that I've considered dying to escape the pain. Clearly, it was too dysfunctional. And so I can't really talk about it with anyone in my life because of our situation. I hope you understand. I know I have done a bad thing. But I do agree that some people can be friends after a breakup. Just not us.

I used to log it but don't anymore. I know there's lots of stuff I should be cutting out of my diet, though. I like exercise but sometimes feel I have no energy and wish I had more.

Daydreaming. I used to daydream about having my life getting better without actually doing anything to make it better. I don't know how to explain to you guys. But I have addicted to daydreaming. It is a way of coping my extremely terrible life. It's like drug addiction. I can't stop it no matter how hard I try.

I feel you. It can be a struggle. My old therapist told me to get up, get dressed and just work out for 5 minutes. If I don't want to go on, I can stop. But usually just the act of getting ready and starting is a big boost. So I approach it that way on my more difficult days.

Oh, please, no need to apologize. I'm posting about it all different places, and I'm not ever sure where all of those posts are. I just didn't want to rehash it in an effort to save everyone's sanity and threshold over me talking about it so much.

So I didn't buy all the crap that I would usually buy at the store. Ok I bought one thing, but that was it. Not the usual dozen or so that I would buy. I guess I'm getting serious about changing my eating habits.

More than one, but especially eating too many unhealthy things and not getting enough exercise. Been challenges for me for years now. Definitely need to get more focused on making those better, they are extremely important & I don't want to ever have even more health problems if I can do something to prevent it.
I think this is a great thread.

I'm trying not to be so self critical, I tend to give myself all of the blame when I can't make friends with someone or a relationship ends. I'll never progress until I have a sense of self worth, I need to remember all the good qualities I have and stop beating myself up when things go wrong. Low self esteem has made me put myself in harmful situations in the past.
This really resonates for me - thank you

food. i'm really trying to eat better and less. i don't want to be buried in a piano crate when i pass lol. i am losing a little but not enough. about 6 lbs. in 6 weeks. i need to do better.

mike
Slow and stead is often the best way. 6 pounds in 6 weeks...52 pounds in a year which is nothing to sneeze at. Plus the gradual loss likely will show sensible shedding of pounds where they stay off in the long run.

Internet stalking. The amount of info I have on his ex and his entire life, including all of the women he's sleeping with or has slept with, is terrifying and I'm constantly seeing things I shouldn't or regret seeing later. But I'm having a hard time letting him go. So, it's torture.

My stalking is so good, a friend of mine offered to hire me to find out some info on a young woman her nephew was dating. I mean, people are willing to pay for my services, but I use them for evil.
