Damn, really tired, now... -_- have slept really poorly for two days. Can't go to bed, yet, though; I need to make the bed, first, and I'm too tired to do that... will only get worse, though...

The longest I've been awake must have been 42 hours, when I was fifteen, I think I must have been... I was functioning fairly well, except for the horrid tiredness, until I started hallucinating. I was sitting in an armchair, watching television, when I suddenly felt I had to look at my right hand. I noticed I had a strange, black ring on my ring finger, with intricate details, but the main ornament was a skull coloured skull with glowing, orange red eyes. When I looked at the skull, I suddenly realised I had an important mission, so I quickly hurried to the hall, to put my shoes on and go outside and do whatever I had to do. On the way to the hall, I looked into the kitchen and saw my mother and her parents, discussing something. However, before I could get to my shoes, I suddenly was sitting in the armchair, again, watching television. Again the exact same thing happened; I felt I had to look at my hand, again, and saw the strange ring on my finger. When I looked at it more closely, I realised I had an important mission, and, again, I was on my way to the hall, passed the kitchen, looked into it and saw my mother and my grandparents, discussing something, and I was going to get my shoes and put them on, but before I got to do it, I again was sitting in the armchair, and the same things kept happening, over and over, with me stuck in a loop. After maybe the tenth repeat, my mother came and asked what I was doing. I was sitting in the hall with my shoes on, and apparently had been doing so for ten minutes.

Can you help me understand how you can function without any sleep for a week? For someone who needs at least 7hrs of sleep every day, I have hard time understanding how you can even go to work/school, move your body and find energy to do acitivities without falling asleep. Let me be specific with my Q. If you go without sleep for 3, 4, 5 days, don't you find yourself yawning all the time, your eyes closing automatically and wanting to lying down and fall asleep instantly?
Well, during high school, or rather, the comparable Swedish version of it called gymnasiet, when I slept really poorly, during a time when I was in some of the final classes of a physics class, I couldn't even do anything else but try to concentrate on not falling asleep, which I did, shortly, several times, anyway... not that it mattered; the classes were completely uninteresting and the books were so poorly written, it wasn't really any use to even try. I usually slept one or two hours, in the night, during this time.

Nowadays, when I sleep poorly, I become really grumpy, to add... I don't remember how grumpy I used to be during those years, though, but I think it's much worse, now.

5 days - man was I off my face on that one .......mainly booze - got to the point that whenever I drank a mouthful that the booze seemed to come straight out of my eyes (as well the nose, of course)....and that wasn't a Hallucination:rolleyes:

Was really annoyed that I could not go 24/7 - but I was just soooo shattered - dawn of the living dead:sad:, so I drove home and crashed for around 3 days:laugh:......after that I kinda limited myself to 3 days off me head at a time.

I was younger then, fook knows where the energy came from .......With much surprise to me I never really got to the full blown Alky / Narc stage somehow - not even a beer gut!.......I only drink a couple of times a year now.....sometimes politely and sometimes a bad / good one ......and never miss the booze in between - but a large part of me does miss all the crazy shit......

But "normal" no sleeping I am fairly ok on, albeit a few nights of not much kip does really fook me over........

Hey, it's 2.30am here........

About three and a half days. Every so often, I have experience wakefullness and the inability to asleep at all for a few days at a time. I just lie in bed, my heart racing and sweating, and I end up pacing the room. This can go on for a couple of days. When I finally do get sleep, it is brief and restless, and this goes on for up to a week.

I used to down Nyquil every night before bed, which helped for the first few hours, but I would always wake up in the middle of the night and then be unable to get back to sleep.

the longest for me was a six month strech where I sometimes wouldn't sleep for up to 9 days. Well I mean I would have micro-sleeps which last up to a minute but that's only because one's brain forces you to. Which can be pretty dangerous if your up and about(I never was). I was already a pretty bad agorophobic at the time so I pretty much never left the house. And I was really badly addicted at the time but even the drugs wouldn't help me sleep(even though they should have). I was a complete mess though, paranoid, chaotic thinking, audio and visual hallucinations(after 4 days anyone will), everything felt well unreal is an understatment. And then after like three months I started getting these 'somatic symptoms' basically feeling things happening to my body that actually weren't happening. Bones breaking, being cut, things crawling under my skin, it was all one really really long nightmare. I really don't ever wish it on anyone, it freaks me out just talking an thinking about it.

Probably a week. Though I was under the influence of illicit substances at the time. Came very close to having a psychotic break..

Needless to say; drugs are a very, very bad idea when mixed with mental illness. Or, umm... in general! :P

Mine was 3.26 days. I was heavily addicted to video games like Warcraft. -__- behind this weightlifter there's some geek and nerd. Don't worry though I did what I had to do to survive. Warcraft was so addicting. ....
