Younger girls/older guys.

#61
one of my friends when she was 15/16 was going out with someone who was 28 - and her parents let him stay over.

I think it just depends on the couple really!
so true to be fair - my friend started going out with a guy over 10 years older when she was 16... they've been happy a lot of the time and seem to have a healthy relationship.

Yeah i agree with that. I think it goes even further though. Love knows no gender either, cause really weve probably all been both male and female in our past lives. annnnd love is not limited to one on one imo. Why do people think its best to only allow your self to love one person. ITs just the way society is programmed. You can fall in love with many people. i guess its cause the jealousy or some thing. or cause in our way or life its too tough to maintain more than one or two.

about soul mates and spiritual connections I think for sure there is a spiritual connection. Soul mates dunno cause , were all soul mates really, we have connection to each other and the thing that created our souls. thats what I believe anyways.

I'm 16 and my boyfriend is 19, I met him in January when I was 15 and I felt strange about it at first because he was older than me but now it doesn't really bother me, he acts really immature for his age anyway so it's like we're the same age, here in Australia the age of consent is 16 so it's legal for us to be together.

So yah. o.o; Why is it such a big deal for a younger girl to be in a relationship with an older guy? Like, a 15 year old and a 22 year old. What's so wrong about that? I mean if they want to be in the relationship, why is it frowned upon. o.o; I just don't get it.
This response is based on the (confirmed) assumption that “Corieh Infected” is referring to nonsexual relationships.

Predator phobia is the problem. Now a days, you can’t even talk to an underage girl without risking child molester accusations. In fact, many male teachers are leaving the K-12 education system because it has become precarious for them to work. Any sign of affection (a hug, a pat on the back, a high-five) could lead to ridiculous allegations and subsequent career demise. What is this world coming too? Since when did affection become a bad thing?

The media has lead many people to believe that any man who befriends a girl is dangerous, perverted, or weird. Their was a time when it was OK for people to hang-out with whoever they wanted … but now, fear mongering is rampant. Our government tells us to be afraid of everything and everybody, especially people who do not fit into a specific category of behavior and interest that define “normal”. A man who likes or shows compassion toward teens or children is no longer considered a benevolent, father-like figure, he is considered a child molester who is using benevolence as a tool of sex manipulation. Admittedly, there is some truth to predator-phobia propaganda, but most of it is blown way out of proportion in order to create a sensational story, improve ratings, and proliferate hate.

I am sad to say I live in a country that can imprison an 18 year old for 10 years just for kissing his 15 year old girlfriend. Because of our ridiculous legal system, that 18 year old could be accused of child molestation, have to do time in federal prison, and have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

I do think 18 is an appropriate age requirement for explicit sex, but I think it is ridiculous that our society condemns nonsexual relationships just because an age disparity exists. Love, embracement, and affection are good things. If a young lady is truly happy with dating or hanging-out with an older guy, than she should be able to …. And the older guy should not have to endure cruel accusations or implications. What is important about a relationship is the happiness that both individuals receive from that relationship not the approval or happiness that outsiders feel. Adults always want to tell kids how they should feel or who should cause them to feel that way. Happiness is happiness, regardless of the age of the individual that is causing it to occur.

Not all guys are evil, sex-obsessed womanizers. That is a false stereotype perpetuated by the significant damage player cause by their rampant promiscuity. In other words, a medium percent of players accounts for a huge percent of manipulations. A player may use and manipulate 20 different women in the same amount of time that it takes for a shy/nice guy to experience one or even zero relationships. There are grown men out there who desire long-term, loving relationships. There are men out there who condemn promiscuity and value their virginity. There are men out there who won’t even have sex with someone unless they believe marriage will ensue. I know these men exist for I am one of them.

When I was 15 I dated an older guy and I felt that he was very manipulative and only wanted sex. Of course being young I didn't know any better and fell for it. But i'm sure this isn't always the case.

I think I found a friend in you.

Sadly even those good qualities that you've pointed out for men are frowned upon, at least in my experience. Especially that virgin thing. Whenever I gather the courage to talk to a girl it always leads to them asking personal questions about my past relationships. When I'm honest with them and tell them that I've never had a gf or that I'm a virgin they immediately assume that there's something wrong with me, I'm weird, a pervert, or gay. So I gave up on them and refuse to share my life, gifts, and talents with anyone. Its depressing but what else am I to do?

That makes me fucking sick to the stomach. I can't imagine what a rat bastard a 24 year old male would have to be to be in a sexual relationship with a 14 year old. I am normaly much more rational thean this. That is so fucked up and depressing, when you are 24 look at a 14 year old and I guarantee you will feel different about it. That guy is such a creep, please get out of the relationship. Sorry for the language normaly I keep my cool but this just kills me its so sick. Please dont do it, leave him!

If i had a friend who started going with a 14-16 year old girl, i'd rip him all the time. (What the fuck can't find a woman?) It just seems strange to me . . . Not that 14-16 year old girls cannot be attractive or mature. . . it just seems dirty. Mostly, from my perspective, because i'm never around that age group I don't know what legit reason guys in their 20s or older are doing around them. Also, girls that age (from what I remember) are fucking crazy.

If my friend pulled that shit it might be one of the few situations I would take the law into my own hands, I mean no disrespect to the victims of these men because that's what they are even if they wanted it, wanting to be with older men is usualu related to being abused, molested or raped or messed with and the need to recreate the act again to feel normal. Please seek help, what's hapining to you is wrong I dont know any guys in the world who would think this is ok. I hope you work this problem out, it is not ok. I hurt so badly for you girls.

It's not as simple as that. Children are considered too young to cope with a sexual relationship which can give you STI's and get you knocked up. And if you're under pressure a pedophile can force you to say you agreed so that's not enough. Laws are designed to assume the worse and prevent it, just think: what COULD happen?

too bad i JUST found this thread and that it wasn't made like a year and a half earlier. about two years ago (i was 15) i was in a relationship with a 23 going on 24 year old. i wish i wouldn't have gotten involved with him, i don't mean sexually cause that never happened, but just because he caused me so much emotional stress. he's the reason i found SF. i mean he's not the only reason, but he screwed me up. royally. he lied to me all the time and just said the creepiest things which at the time, i thought were all true and "romantic." now, looking back two years later, i see that he was a perv and what now seems even more disgusting is that he's almost as old as my older brother. i can't help it though. i do like older guys, but i also like guys my age. i have given myself an age limit though, no one over 20 and no one under 17.

My veiw is, as a few people have said, is that love knows no age. I do think its wrong though, in the situation where the younger person is being used and manipulated etc. But such is true for any age bracket not just younger teens etc. Personally, I have experience with this "wrong" doing as so many of you call it. I'm with a person who is 24, and I'm 17... the age difference is not noticable at all to either of us, and actually the only issues it presents is with other peoples opinions, and myself not having the freedom to do as I please as I'm still underage. Feelings are feelings, you love who you love. We have alot in common, and have a connection that I cant even formulate into words. Whether he was 19 or 30, it wouldnt matter, I'd love him none the less. Thats all I'm going to say about that.

I think the age of consent is good!! if it wasnt there, theres nothing to stop a pedophile from taking advantage of a child and saying it was consensual. We've all heard of the "he said, she said" battle but to put a child through that is awful. I think they need a legal advocate when they are too young to speak up for themselves. I was 12 and with a 17 year old and it was really bad for me. There is such an age/maturity difference between the two, so even though its legal, it can be awful. The whole system is very tricky, but atleast there is something in place. Obviously, people don't care in many cases and have illegal relationships, but that is to be expected with any law. I know that I was easily manipulated by a junior in high school so i can only imagine how hard it would be for a small child to defy a 20+ year old. Now im not saying that every relationship is bad since after that I was with an 18 yr old when I was 13 who was wonderful and loved me and took care of me.

I guess I just like knowing there is a law in place to protect younger kids

Ok... I have to say this for the sake of accuracy.

Sexual relationship with a minor is illegal. But the mere act of 'dating', depending on your definition of 'dating', is not. In other words, while it will raise alarm bells in concerned parents, there is nothing illegal about holding hands and walking around the mall with a 14 year old. But if things go beyond the holding of hands, the police can step in.

Also, things can go wrong in at least 20 different ways. I mean lets say you are a 22 year old dude and your girl is 14. It means you can't watch the same movies (because she can't watch M18 ones) or eat at the same place (if you like eating at a particular bar that serves alcohol). You can't even say things like 'can I get you a drink?'.

So there.

Part of is a little against some one that old dating a minor.

I suppose that it is alright if neither parter takes advantage of each other it is all right.

I don't see age being an issue if the 2 people involved are over the age of consent.

I have always dated older men. I have just split up with a man who is 14 years older than me. The man I was with before him was 27 years older than me. The man before him was only a year older than me, and it was a horrible relationship. The man before him was 16 years older than me. And my ex fiance was 8 years older... I'm currently in love with a man who is actually 34 years older than me. Some people think that's wierd, but I just like older men  Age doesn't matter if you both get on well, and you're both getting what you need from that relationship as individuals. If you both want the same things from the relationship and you make each other happy why shouldn't it work? Age has nothing to do with it... Only my opinion ofcourse.

lol a few people around here wouldnt be surprised if i tried.

There is a 7 year gap between myself and my current girlfriend.

Being a 27 year old teacher, I would probably be fired if I was even suspected of having a relationship with one of my students. I would never do this though, because it's just wrong. Adults should be dating other adults and let the teenagers date eachother.
