When I was a sophomore in high school, I was in an AP Statistics class where we had ciphering every Friday (basically a speed problem solving contest involving trivia, statistics problems, etc.). Teams that the teacher selected would compete against each other for extra credit.
Our team name that a talented teammate chose was "Nickels and Deums." Deums is pronounced like the word dimes. The teacher's name included the letters e and u together so that "eu" was pronounced like the word "I".
Furthermore, we had gadgets during individual rounds where each member of our four-person team would be given an electronic gadget and enter their team name along with their name in some form or fashion.
I decided to be Deums + AC (my initials). Therefore, I appeared on the big screen in the front of the room as "deumsac" after each question's answer was revealed and points were scored. I later played poker online on Full Tilt using that name, and then I decided to use it as my SF username.
