Hi, I’m sorry to hear how hard things are for you right now. I’m guessing that you’re in the US. You can complete dentures in price range of $1000 - $15000. It depends a lot on the materials.
I don’t realize an employer could fire someone for dental health reasons. That seems like firing someone for a health issue and I always thought employers are not supposed to do that…at least where I live…unless the health issue literally means the person cannot physically
do the job. You might want to explore that with whatever local agency oversees labour laws.
Have you asked your employer how long he thinks it would take to get this dental work set up and done? Those ads people see on TV where they do full sets implants in a day? I’m sure it
can be done, but I’m not sure it is the norm. Getting implants depends on more than just not having teeth there. I had an implant and the dentist misjudged the amount of bone. He had to graft bone tissue from the roof of my mouth. After all that, the implant failed and I had to pay to get it removed. Your boss might think you need to get this done…(I’d check into whether or not he can actually fire an employee for this, pressure them into it, and so on.)
I came across this website that might offer you some help:
https://www.hhs.gov/answers/health-insurance-reform/where-can-i-find-low-cost-dental-care/index.html — at least I hope it does.
I really understand your frustration with this. I had several years where I could not afford even basic dental care. Eventually, many of my teeth started to crack and needed to be extracted. It’s hard explaining to people that I do want to look after things, but it’s just too expensive, even for something as important and health-related as dental care. They don’t always understand that.
I wish you all the best. I’m hopeful that you might find someone/a dental school that is willing to help you out. Keep trying! Let us know what happens.
