I found Soya milk in a local UK co-op store. It's only £1 for 2 pints, so I bought it.
I find its quite nice - and great on cereals.
In tea you don't know its not milk.
Taste would take getting used to if you drank it raw - but with some milkshake flavour or as a smoothie, it would be ideal.
Its is more ethical as it takes less land and produce to create the soya milk. There is no cruelty involved as factory farmed cows are milked by machines and are killed as soon as they stop being productive.
Soya is just a plant and this Soya milk is non GM and I guess I'd sooner see a plant pulled up for my milk than some cow milked by machines and the milk infected by a variety of diseases, a percentage of 'pus' and all those medicines they pump into the animals we have on factory farms.
Its amazing that a plant can produce something so close to milk. Just as healthy, in fact a lot more healthy than milk.
IF you raising young children, soya milk should not be used with toddlers. Best to get your breast out and give it the real thing. When the child is weaned, soya milk is suitable. If the child has a well balanced diet, then he or she does not need milk. Many people avoid it for their own reasons - and many people have a bad reaction to it also! Many milk and dairy product allergies exist.
Sure, soya might be allergic for some, but there are other 'milks' out there.
I look forward to a nice soya milkshake. There must be soya ice-cream also.
