Anyone tried walking meditation? Just heard of it and it seems perfect for me because I can't sit still and meditate more then 10 or 15 minutes, my mind gets distratcted quickly
er..i'm doing this without thinking too. if what i'm doing is meditation, ok!

what i do is really concentrate on the soles of my feet. i got myself some skates a few years ago which also helped me make me aware of the ground, control-balance, and different textures on the ground.
also dancing and exercise, can people meditate through this? because that helps me get back into my body, just like self harm used to.
i suffer a lot with extreme dissociation , so i need to do this to keep myself safe.
sorry i don't know much about meditation other than the little i know about yoga and visualisation.
is meditation when all of that, what you sense through your body, gets really overpowering and it's like everything is brighter/sharper? because people thought i took LSD a lot in the past but i don't take anything. then again, i think i'd been floating and manic at the same time too.

Have done for a while and it does help. As for walking meditation, I do a lot of climbing and mountaineering. A lot of that time is spent in a kind of meditational state whether that is the total focus on the holds of a climb or simply floating along an easy snowy ridge.

Mindfulness is not meditation as such, it's a tool used to perform meditation (and this improves as a result of meditation.) Meditation itself is the cessation of active thought. By focusing completely on the whole of what you are doing (mindfulness), you will stop thinking and merely observe, both external stimuli and the thoughts in your head, developing improved awareness.

It's not foggy at all, it's entirely lucid. And it's not done unconsciously, it takes great focus and concentration. I only got a proper trance once, but it was amazing what insight it gave to... There's Something About Mary. It didn't seem right for the most intense religious experience of my life to centre around a Ben Stiller comedy, but... Meh. What are you gonna do? XD

[Unfortunately, I became unable to meditate shortly thereafter due to depression, so I lost all my meditation skills :(]

 funny.

i dunno, people think i have deep spiritual insight all the time even when i'm high. i dunno. you know what i think i do? i've just given more time to relax and slow down, "grounding" which what is called meditation here. but can someone be grounded and agitated and do loads too?
this thread reminds me what i asked my therapist, 'what is consciousness' as i say i'm in various parts of the 'ocean', which can be really foggy, a lot to describe what i go through. she said i was asking 'too deep a question.' :dunno:

That's the point of meditation, to make you relax - not the other way around. And good meditation is significantly more restorative than sleep.

I meditate on scripture. It keeps me spiritually in shape, and focused. When I am spiritually sound the rest follows without effort. Hallelujah! I like this post. Blessings..
