It's good to see everyone joining the festivities that is the Cafe thread.

So good to see you both, Acy and Jim! Like to read about your happenings during the day.

I am still sick... this thing better not morph to pneumonia, or I am in a world of hurt. My dad and I are still coughing. It's a sad state of affairs. I just hope that I can get over it, whatever 'it' is, and get on without it. Oh well.

I haz chocolate! Woohoo! I have a big bar of hershey's milk chocolate, and a couple of bags of hershey's nuggets. I'm all set for the rest of winter with chocolate! nomnomnom

Anyway, I best be off! So much to see and do... NOT!

morning folks,

weather actually looks nice outside, but thermometer says -24 C. Eek! So will be staying inside for entirety of the day today. Will be back to normal temperatures tomorrow. Day off today from work and only plan is to do some laundry and read some more of Cloud Atlas book. I really like it so far. I haven't read a book composed entirely of letters/diary entries of the main characters since Bram Stoker's Dracula. Am increasingly confused how this book somehow was made into a movie. It doesn't seem very conducive to cinema format so far. I have not seen movie and don't intend to until I complete the book first.

It's Wednesday the 30th. but I'm not brave enough to start a new thread. First thing is the best time of the day for me. All I've done is make coffee and wash my face but that's a good start. Have a good day.

morning good ppl.. how's the day going so far???? john with Katie tonight.. I am slowly thawing out from the med fog atm.. slowly is good sort of now.. got another apt with new therapist brent this morning at 10:30.. we wait and try to gauge how this is going to go with this person... geez, I do miss tara..

got quite a few hours till zoomies gets back home.. need a bit more sleep first off.. not too much wakeup juice now Jimbo.. some music. Marlboros and a touch more of kindle book about john lennon..

Hello again, on waking it was dark and wet. Bout half an hour ago the sun came out. I peered out of the door and wondered if I could have a little walk. Looked down, saw the porch was covered in leaves. Share it with my 90+ , partially sighted neighbour. So swept porch and part of our path instead.

I spent 7 ( seven) hours on the phone to the Samaritans last night.
It is now two months since I was last out. I spent the rest of the evening playing
Games on my Xbox. How sad? A 50year old man playing bloody games on a console.
My coffee machine is out of coffee and Tescos ain't coming with the shopping for another 5 hours.
Spent the remainder of the evening playing on my Xbox. How sad a 50 year old playing bloody console games.

Star woke me up around 6:20 a.m. and she has been attended to. I'm sipping on coffee now. No plans for the day. Might try to read some more of my library book.

Jimk, good luck with Brent! I hope you can establish a good relationship with him. :smile:
Theodora, how kind and good of you to help out your 90+ neighbor! Perhaps you'll get a walk in later on? :smile:
Queenfan, I hope you feel less down on yourself soon. I'm glad you called the Samaritans, and games are not sad and pathetic - they can be a good distraction. What other things would you like to do? Is there a way to add those things in?

I've been up seven hours now. Been spending time in the Cafe's older posts interspersed with 5 to 10 mins of housework. Jimk, thank you for every time you've mentioned clean clothes and baths, so I'm not the only one. Acy, at best of times I get tired easily and sweeping porch had my heart thumping. Maybe walk tomorrow. Did stand in porch in sun with a coffee later. Waved to 3 neighbours and spoke to 2 others. After yesterday latter is like a miracle. Have to take care not to get 'high' and do too much.

Ron , good to hear from you again.. hope together with the Samaritans helps some... like acy said sometimes all one can manage is to divert one's thoughts anywhere else.. sometime we maybe talk about xbox games we each like??? I do my share of diversion mightily often..lol

Acy hope you can lose yourself a bit in a good book today.

Heyroo everyone!

Full Cafe today! That's always a wonderful thing! Welcome to new members Theodora and Queenfan! Hope we can make your stay a bit more entertaining!

I just woke up. Not much to do today. Shovel snow later, after snow stops. It hurts my knee, but my mom expects me to do it. Blah.

Main character outline done and typed up. Now onto the minor character outlines. Gotta get things done. Aft4er the character outlines, I write my outline. Meanwhile, muse is saying 'Enough planning! Just write! See where the story takes you!'

Doing an outline will keep me from losing my ability to keep 'time'. Things have to go in a sequential order. I hate messing with time while writing. It gets pretty ugly. Then the story doesn't have a faithful timeline, and say, if I am writing a letter as the basis of a novel, I keep having to say 'I digress' way too often. That's what I had to do with my last novel.

The work I am doing will save me time, as well as get my book ready for publication. Gotta put all the effort I can into making sure this first draft is as close to perfect as possible.

Cafe Thursday January 31st

Morning all. Not as bouncy as yesterday but brave enough to start thread. Hope that doesn't put others off. Still dark here and looked wet when I looked out as I waited for my coffee. Can hear the washing machine noise in background. Thanks Jim you inspired me, so got everything ready last night to take advantage of off peak electricity before 7.30.

morning Theodora.. hope washing and dryer machine handle clothes duty just fine by now.. let me make this clear right now about someone else starting the café thread.. hon I have been starting this thread each day for almost 15 yrs now.. well if you or anyone else wants to start this please do so.. I am a bit old and tired and relinquishing this now is just right and about time.. only proviso is if it gets to be about 1am PST then maybe bow to me so we do not do duplicate posts at that time..

woke first for few minutes at little after 11pm. puffed a little on a Marlboro and then had the good sense to just head back to bed..lol woke again more rested at about 1am .. world looked better this time.had turned the coffee on earlier and that was good.. got my parkinsons under control enuf to click on some music on the ipad.. whitney Houston and I had a reunion..lol

today would like to make it to 711 and do donuts. mini cigars and mega and powerball tickets with nahawand.. got to get to pharmacy later in morning to pick up some of our pills.. rest of day is mine and john's.. going to try and enjoy it..

seems I am not going back to sleep tonight.. going to pay for this later today.. was doing a return PM to Theodora and all of a sudden my web browser (IE 10 trial version } quit fighting with SF .. on new ;puter I bought as a backup to main puter which finally seems ot have croaked and in hands of geek squad now.. size of print in control panel was set to 100 and within browser it was highly enlarged.. then all of a sudden it was size I really did want.. enjoy this while you got it JImbo..lol

fighting urge to logon to amazon now and click place order on the entire television seasons of cagney and lacey.. got number 1 already and need this about as much as a nother frigging hole in this old head but urge is preying upon me.. concession: if when john wakes up if still thinking jhave to have this will go to amazon and do it..lol

Good morning, folks!

Theodora, I hope you get all the laundry done! I live in a condominium building and there are "noise by-laws" for residents. Management always tells us that we are not use our (noisy!) washers, dishwashers, dryers between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m., and then they post notices reminding us that we should be using them in the "off peak hours". They can't make up their minds, I guess.

Jimk, I'm sorry you didn't get more sleep! Also sorry the 'puter has been acting up. Good idea to take advantage when it does do what you want! Wow - Cagney and Lacey! I haven't thought of that show in a while. Sounds like fun! My local cable company offers a couple of stations that play old shows all the time. I bet the price breakdown for buying shows on dvd vs paying for them on cable is about the same. And with the dvds, you get to keep them and watch them over again anytime.

Today my sis and I will take Dad to his doctor's appointment. It's a general check up with his Gerontologist/Geriatric Specialist. Nothing else on the to do list today.
