ok just a bit grumpy and headache. That's what I get without the daily opiod.
if you require opioids on a daily basis it's important to not skip any days. if you can sometimes we can use a little less so we have a little extra on a bad day later in the month. but all of us have a minimum. i hope you get over it quickly.

that is the one bad thing about opioid use , withdrawal comes fast and all of the problems that come with it. that's why i always suggest oioid use is a last resort med, but if needed it can be a godsend

I really don't like this night nurse. She's literally mutilating my arm trying to find a vein. I told her no finally and to get someone else. Her first stick, she literally drew no blood at all and then said "oh, it's okay, I still got it" and proceeded to try to flush the IV with saline. Obviously, it hurt, and I told her no, you don't have it, that hurts. She tried to argue until I told her assertively to take it out and get someone else to do this. I have multiple bruises on both arms now and one of them is even from the tourniquet she used to tie my upper arm with. She literally snapped it right on my arm and said "oh, you bruise easily". Yes, yes I do. Which is why when I tell you it hurts, maybe listen next time.
I can relate, and I don’t wish that on anyone. I wish nobody had ever had to deal with that! Being treated badly in a place where you can’t just get up and leave is one of the worst feelings a human could experience. Hugs if you’re open to them.

i feel that lol. imagine if we could go back to a bottle or breastfeeding, a juicebox and a diappy. if we could do that for a week it would relieve months worth of stress in a week. alas my wife won't be my mommy lol

I really don’t wish to return to infancy, ofc. My partner did have a tendency to attempt to parent me, and it didn’t go well. If there’s one pattern in my life, it’s that I relentlessly oppose being told what to do, even if it’s a better idea than mine. In that sense we had a different form of compatibility than most people think of: I was protecting him from being a codependent, and he was protecting me from self destruction. I think that this aspect of our relationship was a huge protective factor in my recovery from addiction later on.

That said, sometimes I am agitated just because I have been zooming around too much and I need, or would at least benefit from, slowing down and getting some juice or a cookie. Along with a lot of water, as well. :)

I took a road trip. Over 6 hours one way. Without using the opioids up and Advil, I wouldn't have been able to do it. I've told my doctor how much over the counter stuff I take, what it is,he doesn't care. I've said it's bad for my kidneys and liver. He won't up my dose. It doesn't work anymore. I still take it for whatever relief it must be helping a bit with. I know I shouldn't do that, but I wanted to take that trip. I'm glad you're doing alright right now Mike.

My heart goes out to both you and @1964dodge (mike), @Reality. Chronic pain can really affect your mood and everything else in your life. I know because I have been through it. I eventually healed after 7 years and more PT than I would like to admit. The PT and myofascial release massage really helped. If nothing else, they both trained me to tolerate a higher pain threshold. (😇).

At some point I decided to look for non-drug alternatives and I found some ideas. I am not suggesting that would necessarily work for you; my pain was mostly due to adhesions in my connective tissues that were holding my posture dysfunctionally, and that set off a chain reaction that ended with cartilage impacting the nerve. So, I was able to heal through PT and getting help with my posture.

Chronic pain has all sorts of different causes, so the appropriate treatment would depend on that. Unfortunately, in the USA, we used to just treat symptoms and leave the underlying problem unaddressed. The cynic in me wants to point to a profit motive; you can make more money per patient if you keep them from healing.

I say “used to,” because the opioid crisis was dealt with by severe crackdowns and now the doctors are limited in how much they can prescribe in aggregate. So we don’t even treat the symptoms anymore.

It’s really tragic and I suspect it’s because we stigmatize anything that cannot be understood unless you have been there. So we end up trying to fix a problem through law enforcement as if we could scare people into getting better. What happens instead is that patients get desperate and end up going around the system and getting opioids on the streets, hence the explosion in street fentanyl overdoses following the oxycodone crackdown. This has been seen before; per my older friends, amphetamine used to be handed out to just about anyone. The federal government cracks down, and now we have meth. Hooray for us (?).

Alone and struggling.
Well, you’re not alone in your loneliness, if that is possible. I don’t know if that helps or makes it worse, but I am getting desperate for human contact that doesn’t involve a monetary transaction.

My history with this is to go on the hookup apps and get contact that way- but it is an addictive behavior when I do it, and probably a ticket straight back to the drug train - I don’t want to elaborate for fear of scarring anyone with how that process goes. :(

IDK, do you have any ideas about healthy ways to make some casual acquaintances? I’m considering getting a massage, but I’m not sure if it’s creepy or not to get a massage just for nonsexual touch. That’s also involving a monetary exchange, so it’s not a genuine connection, but it’s better than nothing for me, at least.

I wouldn't even have the energy. I think the more accurate description is exhausted and depleted. I need to get some sleep, somehow, but try telling my brain that at 4am...
