Irritated over waking up to what sounded like a brief dogfight in the hallway outside my apartment.

I am starting to suspect that this building is where the irresponsible dog owners end up. If someone can’t be bothered to consider whether apartment life is appropriate for their ill-tempered, highly vocal, and territorial animal, it shouldn’t be my problem.

But I have to live in the middle of what sounds like the damn doggy day care, so it is.
remember the owner not the dog is behaving badly

I’m sorry. That must be heart-rendingly painful. I am at the age where friends are becoming grandparents, and relating with them seems to be very important. Although, some have strained relationships with the kids who are becoming parents… especially my best friend who has a youngish son, approx 22. He has not settled down, but he’s kind of a dick to his father.

I just thought of a joke, but then I thought that you might also not be in the mood for goofiness. With that in mind, I will couch it in spoiler tags and you can skip it if it’s not a good time right now for a groaner, lol.
I once read a quip about why grandparents and their grandchildren get along so well: they have a common enemy!

okay… I will show myself out. Remember to tip your server!
Luv the joke @LumberJack and I needed it, thanks for that and your thoughtful response. *console

I’m in so much pain that I am physically collapsing. I’m monumentally foolish when it comes to major life decisions, and those are all showing up to bite me in the ass. I have 14 months until my 50th birthday, and it would be amazingly easier if I could make sure I don’t make it. I’m just so tired of being suicidal off and on, to varying degrees.

I’m starting to doubt I would be able to exit by choice, but things can change. I know without a doubt that if I discontinue my meds suddenly, it would be easier to do it than to resist ending myself. That’s why I’m on the meds in the first place…

Going to take a nap right now. It could possibly be that I’m just grumpy.
I definitely relate to this. I am in pain constantly also. I just had a landmark birthday pass and looked back at how long I have been suicidal, about 25 years now. I don't think I'll be able to exit by choice either.

@cymbele That was quite a journey. It's a nice feeling to walk back in the door of home and sleep in your own bed, right?

If you have tips on how to accept it please share them. I've had that for months, not all the time but when it hits me I fall to pieces for awhile.

I may not be helpful because I have been divorced for 18 years; empty nester for 15 or so. Even when I was married I was exceedingly lonely. my ex worked long hours, always wanted someone else's approval, and retreated into his computer games when he was home. But the kicker was when my daughter moved out. Fortunately I have good family and friend support and i kept busy. It was on the weekends that it was overwhelming because everyone was busy and i was left alone (still am).

eventually I got used to being alone but even now I have to call family/friends for a chat just to hear a human voice. I also have been in this house for 40 years; i can't imagine trying to start over. People are so inclusive and introverted nowadays. Especially in New England USA. People seem to fear contact from outside their inner circle.

Sorry I wasn't much help. I just keep busy for the most part.

@cymbele No sorry necessary. Your words are more helpful than you think.

I once visited a friend in New England, we drove around starting on Long Island, NY to the coast of Maine and back through the other states - in late September/early October. I did pick up on that sense of insularity, but wasn't sure if I was correct in my perceptions. It is certainly a gorgeous area of the world, especially in autumn. I have fond memories of seeing otters in a lake just before dawn on a chilly morning, while coffee was brewing.

Right now I'm feeling enveloped by a thick, constricting fog. I just want to sleep, but I've been sleepy around the clock for at least 2 days, making today the third. On the bright side, sleeping is a great way to escape the crushing weight of depression. On the not-so-bright side, the fact that I'm so far down that I'd rather not get up off the floor is concerning. I feel like I'm in a boxing match against my depression. I've been knocked down so many times that maybe I should just take the "L" and pass tf out. This is so even though I can tell that the feeling of not wanting to get up is, in fact, depression itself.

I think there is a factor that may not be the whole puzzle, but is a piece. I've been overdoing it on news consumption. Spent a couple hours yesterday fruitlessly looking for ways to get involved and that was probably beyond what I was ready to handle then.

that sounds painful. I hope they can get you antibiotics or whatever is appropriate for that.
Thanks. I did the right thing - as soon as I noticed I had burning urination out of the ordinary, I used a home test strip and found leukocytes which have always signified infection for me (have used them for 6 years and always been clear). So I booked doctor straight away. Got to see practice nurse. Who took a sample for culture and acknowledged there were leukocytes in the urine but apparently not enough to conclude there is an infection. So sent me away without any antibiotics. 3 hours later I do another test and the leukocytes strip is much more obviously and quickly changing colour (meaning more) and now the blood panel is also indicating positives (which it has never done in 6 years of using the strips). I knew I had an infection this morning, went to see a medical professional, and was fobbed off.... So the parotid tumour was misdiagnosed years ago as a "harmless cyst", my pudendal neuralgia is being medically gaslit as "arthritis" and now I'm stuck with no treatment while bacteria multiply in my bladder with nothing I can do about it. Ironically I have a cupboard full of antibiotics and would dearly like to take them right now - but I will go down the offical route first. The last time I had a UTI they kept giving me 7 days of antibiotics. The infection kept coming back. They kept treating it as a new infection each time. It wasn't (urologist confirmed this eventually). I said I need a longer course to finsh it off. Sorry, no can do. You have to follow the protocol that has now failed 6 times. In the end I sourced and took my own antibiotics and it never came back. This is evidently a new one somehow..... I honestly wish it was something fatal, but it's moving too quick for that. It's just ecoli that have got into my bladder somehow....
