@Gard yes I'm talking about cannabis, he mixes it with tobacco, and I know he is addicted. I have to disagree that weed only makes him see things from a different angle, and he talks in his sleep. I have looked up long term effects and it actually prevents him from having a deep sleep, either the dreaming or the deep part of it I forget. He talks in his sleep sometimes too.
Perhaps I cant have a mature talk with him, but I'd like to think at my age of 57 I am capable of discussing his needs. I did want him to have a psychologist, the principal of his high school said she might consider him for the free psychologist but he wasn't picked. Everything has to go through his family doctor first, I even asked him to refer him to a pyschologist but he'd rather him start with antidepressants and I disagree with just him starting that and no help along with it. My doctor exclaimed the price of a psychologist, and I said ''well then maybe it has to come out of my pocket and I'll pay for it.'' me and my sons doctor is stubborn. You cant just make your doctor do what you want or need, and I can't find another one, I tried. I'm in Canada, and our health system is not as some people think, great, free etc.
I do think placing less demands on him might be good advice, but I don't think asking for basic respect, cleaning up after himself, and getting help for his addiction is wrong. He's an adult and needs to learn to stand on his own feet. He is capable of working he's done it before. I liked though that you give me another perspective at how to look at this. Thank you.
