It's very hot, I couldn't sleep at all in the heat, which hasn't helped my state of mind much. Maybe it will cool down a bit this evening.
Glad to hear you're a little bit better, but concerned about the heat at night. I hesitate to ask, so I will not mind at all if you'd rather not share, but is your place equipped with air conditioning?
In the place where I grew up, Aircon (I think that's the term the Brits use, lol) was considered an extravagant luxury. however, that was about 30 years ago. Today, temps have risen so much that it's virtually a necessity.

If 32C is about as warm as it gets there, I wouldn't be so worried, but it's late May and usually that is when summer temps are just getting started. Late July-August are usually the hottest here, but I wouldn't know about your area because geographical features are quite significant. Also I know I've asked before and you told me, but i have forgotten the general area you call home. IIRC is was outside of London, but not too far? Again, pls do not hesitate to decline to answer if this is being nosy. :)

Physically, I feel like a close family member has just died, and at the same time I received a speed camera ticket in the mail. I mean it's like grief and frustration and feeling insignificant all in one. Mentally, it's intrusive thoughts off the charts. Worst they have been in a while. I am still able to dismiss them quickly, but the ugliness of the words that those thoughts are taking is really scary. If nothing else because I'm afraid it says something awful about my character if I would even come up with such vitriol, even if it's only in my head.

Writing this out, though, I remembered something I learned a while back about intrusive thoughts. The fear of being a moral reprobate by way of having horrible thoughts is also an intrusive thought.

My friend's main tumor of cancer is indeed dead but the oncologists still want her to go through more months of radiation and chemo to catch possible cells. There was a time i would have taken her place so I could die but like my friend I want to live now.My birthday is in a few months and I will celebrate life with a pacemaker and a new hip. I still find my attitude toward life as strange.

I'm in northern England about 200 miles from London. It is pretty worrying, have had worse but it was in July/August - the first 3 weeks of May were cold and grey, a lot of people had to put their heating on. Then a sudden 32C heatwave (35 in London) before the end of May breaking all records for temperatures. There are a lot of companies trying to push air conditioning, you can get portable machines but doubt they're that much use in a building designed for the climate when Queen Victoria was trying to avoid damp and coal dust... Plus I have enough unaffordable holes to plug 😵‍💫

I want to die, but I've lost too much of my self-efficacy to be able to take that much initiative. It feels like I would just fail at that, too.
I hate this. I hate myself. I hate feeling amazed at how much shit I can go through and still see it get worse.
I feel like this is punishment for thinking that unemployment would be the worst thing that could happen to me. It's not losing the job that hurts so much as the not even being able to try to get another one.
I'm pointless. I have no productive role in society, minimal family, and 95% of my friends are only thru a computer screen.

I was doing better for a few days there. What comes up must come down, I guess. Too bad the reverse is not also true.
I'm sorry dear friend..just u existing is a gift..you don't need to worry about having a productive role in society..ik it feels extremely difficult..but you're worth it..I'm so sorry.....I hope tomorrow brings u more peace and happiness..hugss🫂🫂🫂

I in an odd sense wish I was still working. My mind active, a sense of purpose and some forced social interaction. My mind is active with Photoshop and woodworking but i have gone over all my pictures since 2020 and the next task in woodworking is daunting and I'd rather have someone present. My other retired friends have significant others at home and I'd rather not bother them all the time. I am drifting with no sense of purpose. i have volunteered at the church but it is not time consuming and I don't want to take too much on.

And of course it is nice to have $$ coming in.

I feel mixed. I had another all-night insomnia bout and was up for 26 hours straight, followed by 3 hours sleep. I am a lot older now than I was when I was in early 20s, so I can’t do this every third night and just down some coffee in the afternoon.

However, the sleep deprivation is potentially helping in a way. What I am noticing is that I am letting my foot off the accelerator of my emotional fluctuation. It’s like my brain is so tired that I have to at least cut down the amount of time I spend justifying my anger and fear. The way it seems to help is that I give my complaints a rest, and yet the world doesn’t collapse on top of me as I had expected.

I’m pretty sure that sleep deprivation is an unsustainable way to manage my depression, but it’s interesting to wonder if I could not do the worry about and fight myself and the world at large, without being so exhausted that I struggle to walk upright without leaning against a wall.
