How Are You Feeling Right Now?

Apprehensive. I'm seeing the private specialist tomorrow. I hope it's 3rd time lucky and the fact I am paying a lot of money for proper care might actually get me... some care of some kind. But I feel if he doesn't or can't help it's game over. So it's a pretty high stakes thing and my insomnia has got so bad the sleep deprivation is making me go dizzy during the day. My body and nervous system is so wound up that absolutely everything is registering as a threat. I just want to curl up, go to sleep, and never wake up to be honest.

It will be a win, I suppose, if he doesn't cause iatrogenic harm like the first physio or indulge in medical gaslighting like the GP.

Proactive. Didn't sleep but I seem to have the gene that makes you just keep going. Probably have sentinel genes as my ancestors watched over the tribe all night. Don't feel 100% and I will suffer later but at least the morning is panning out OK - so far. Feels like today I can at least give this specialist a proper go, have my full story and symptoms heard and hopefully find the key to unlock this puzzle. It would make so much difference to my life. Just to be able to go back to walking or sitting on a bus without compromising other body parts and severe pain (I have run a 6 mile race in the past with badly bruised ribs, I am not being soft or making it up, which makes the medical gaslighting so frustrating).

A bit apprehensive. I'm seeing my pdoc today because we need to talk about tweaking the treatment, which is a tricky maneuver because I have maximum dosage on every meds I take. That means switching meds, which is cumbersome. Also still can't focus properly on complex tasks, which is even more depressing.
Good luck at your doctor's appointment. I know going off a med can be tricky.

Got a call from the GP. They've prescribed the weakest ass codeine possible - a few milligrams stronger than I could buy OTC in any shop. LOL. 15mg vs 12.8mg in nurofen plus. Clinically subtherapeutic, so I doubt I'll need to avoid cooking as it might be dangerous I'll be so knocked out. Have to laugh.
Mine just gave me 3 yesterday Yes that’s “3” low dose lorazepam and told me to “be careful!”with them while I’m going through these low level seizures and the antiseizure med increase that are still screwing with my mind and body and of course creating what I feel and know to be anxiety discomfort in my body and mind and it takes 2 weeks to adjust to new meds neurologically. At least. Jesus….they throw the really hard stuff that alters your brain chemically and create all kinds of temporary symptoms at you like candy but if it has “certain potential” side effects then it’s like petitioning for heroin or a $2000 bottle of Lafitte. I’m tired of the medical system here as everyone else consistently notes. Friends in Europe get most any med they need. I have never taken Valium or morphine or other strong meds. But I laughed when I asked over 4 times over a 6 day period via portal phone and through the pharmacy contact to get me some lorazepam to give me Some support through this. I’m not driving. What the hell. You have to laugh. I’m going to post something in The Laugh factory area right now that says it in a couple of sentences. ☺️😉

Opiate withdrawal, be gone, pretty please 🙏
I wish you the easiest time with it. It is hard to do as you are deeply aware and depending upon which type and your previous experiences it can be hard for a couple or more weeks. You can do it!!! Message if you want. I hate saying this but sugar can help with craving, it impacts the brain areas in a similar way. Hard candies do well. I hope you aren’t in any physical pain🙏🏽

@JanisSPK , hey 👋 Thank you. Do not habe cravings this time. This is mine 12th opiate WD so far and I have chosem MAT route, Suboxone, medical 800 mg ibuprofen, some lidocain patches, soothing music, Clonidine, been on it for a while, that help too, but I guess since body, per my PCP, has been fighting some type of inflammation for a while, this time WD is a bit harder than usual..Thanks so much for support and advice and if I get into agony phase, I am taking you up on your messafe offer. 🙏❤️

lol My doctor canceled today's appt. Not sure why. I waited 4 weeks for this one. Now I have to wait 6 for a make-up appt. USA really needs more doctors and nurses. And affordable care.
I think they need to start to listening to us more cut the crap with alloted time for each patient but for them to stay, be present and heal is instead of using js as cash cows.
And totally agree about needing more doctors and nurses. Yesterday in the middle of my apptmnt woth PCP nurse comes in and says "Dr. your next patient is in."

My daughter told me she has ADHD, that's why she starts things and cant finish. Not sure what to do with this information. She diagnosed herself. Apparently my younger son has it too, according to her and my older son as well. Im surrounded.
self-diagnosis is notoriously unreliable. I have self-ruled out a lot of things that I was later diagnosed with. There's also plenty of data that says we humans deceive ourselves very easily without intending to, nor recognizing that, we've done so.

Diagnosing oneself with a neurodivergent condition rather than discussing one's symptoms with a licensed clinician also heaps stigma on those who (like me) were dragged kicking and screaming into accepting that I had ADHD and later OCD. What happens is that when "everyone" claims to have ADHD then the people who really do need accommodation to run their everyday life face a steeper climb trying to attain it. It perpetuates the false assumption among neurotypical and formally diagnosed individuals that ADHD is just an excuse for being lazy and not getting your shit together.

There's also the problem of when people get a false positive in their DIY clinic, it confuses people who legitimately are affected. ADHD is a brain style, and I know when i'm talking to someone else who has it vs someone who doesn't. If someone thinks and declares that they have ADHD, but in fact are neurotypical in that trait, then I end up expecting empathy and understanding from someone who really does not understand. If it sounds like I'm bitter, that's because I am. *huh

I am not saying whether anyone you know definitely does or does not have ADHD, but if they just looked at a list of symptoms and said, yup - that's me... then that should be the start of a conversation with a provider, not the conclusion.

Sorry, raw nerve. *hiding In short, if they really have ADHD they need to be seeking treatment before expecting people around them to change behavior to accommodate them.

I think they are so overbooked that they have to triage most of the time. But a total of 10 weeks is a long damn time! I worry about going bankrupt over a serious illness because it could sink me even with insurance, should they cover it at all.

I had an APRN for med mgt a long time ago who absolutely refused to prescribe any controlled substance. I had been diagnosed with panic disorder in the ER where they gave me xanax, but when following up with the APRN he more or less told me to pound sand. That's an extreme case, but I'm pretty sure that if you ask for something controlled like a benzo or opioid, they assume you are a pill-seeker (aka addict trying to use a dr as drug dealer) right off the bat. Never mind what's worked for you in the past. *rant

You're supposed to take 2 at a time, right? Because anything less than 30 is, as you said, sub-therapeutic. IIRC 30mg codeine and 5mg hydrocodone are about the same, effectively. 5mg is the smallest vicodin tab I'm aware of. Not that I should know this stuff... *halo

Supposedly. I have a history with opioids in the past though, so am not opioid naive, which makes the dose even more pointless as that would be like putting one grain of sugar in someone who is used to sweet tea.... It's useless for this kind of pain. It's a cosmic irony that I cannot take gabapentinoid medications and the next in line is amitryptiline - which I have been trying to get off for some time now and had tapered down to 4mg (which is also subclinical so is not helping with the nerve pain).
