i was thinking that too- but also, that people have gutted/cleaned fish and basically killed animals for meals since the beginning of time without going to the supermarket.
i can't take them because of drug interactions with something i'm on at the moment.
 maybe avril was veggie for health reasons rather than ethics. or maybe it was fashion who knows?

do you take essential fatty acid supplements?

Yeah, it's pretty weird, thinking about that. lol There's this reality show on TV where people get stranded on an exotic island and they have to survive on their own, just using the resources of the island. I think it's in the US too, called "Survivor"? Anyway, when they won some points in a challenge or something they got a chicken as a prize. But they had to kill it themselves and pluck, prepare and cook it themselves. It was quite something. Some people really freaked out and didn't want to kill it...which was interesting to see. I remember one guy stepping forward and volunteer to go in for the kill. So he took a machete, if I remember correctly and then they cut to the next scene; they didn't show the killing. Which was understandable, of course as there might have been kids watching the show. I think they also won a goat they had to kill...but I'm not 100% on that. Anyway, I'm digressing a bit... I take these pills for vegetarians. Supplements. There's a huge list of things on the bottle with ingredients which I haven't memorized. lol I'll check it out.

Okay let me know when/if you ever find what you take :) I'd be interested to know what's in it.

I think it was a tv show I saw way back, not Survivor- but something to do with survival in the wilderness, which reminded me of what I was doing yesterday.. similar to what happened in that show you watched.

I've been a vegetarian for about 3 years.
lacto-ovo-vegetarian to be specific.

I haven't had any fish, poultry, red meat, seafood, or anything like that. I do eat dairy and eggs, although I avoid it when possible. I might convert to vegan eventually, when I'm a bit older.

I've become vegetarian about a month ago and now I'm vegan for about a week...although I just crashed and had a cheese pizza :( but normally I don't eat dairy and eggs...I haven't had meat in a month except for tuna, that's the only thing I still eat...

I'm not sure if I responded here before, but I am working on being a vegetarian. I began mostly out of curiosity, although health and ethical concerns increasingly drove me to keep it up. I still lapse every so often, having bits of chicken or fish, but otherwise I eat far less than I used to, and encourage others to try.

I used to be a vegetarian for several years but decided that I wasn't getting enough nutrition for protein and have eased my way into eating chicken, fish and I am trying to now have a better control of my diet but do choose veggies whenever I possibly can. :)
