Is any one vegetarian or vegan here?

#61
I'm vegetarian...
Meat is gross cuz it's full of nerves and veins and muscle and stuff. Makes me feel VERY unwell.
I think I say this almost every Sunday when my mam is working the Roast. I dont know how any body would want to eat some thing that looks to horrid. Animals should be free to run around, be safe and look cute ALIVE!!

i've cut out fish cos it's not necessary now i'm not physically weak and i'm preparing my meals better.
i have to say i'm missing seafood but i knew i'd get to this place in my life.

go into a sewpermarket and the only sandwiches i can eat now are egg, or the cheese ones. or houmous and falafel.

I am a vegetarian that eats fish (although hardly ever) and I get your problem with some sweets but Chewits are vege friendly...I love them.

My fam are all meat eaters and a lot of my friends are as well...I get both side of the arguement but tbh I dont care if people eat meat in front of me or not. Its their choice and as long as they respect my wishes then I will respect theirs :)

I'm a semi-vegetarian.
I still consume fish, honey, and some seafood.
I'm actually afraid of anything that has to do with meat, poultry, eggs, pork, dairy...

I haven't gone all the way. I eat fish about once a week and chicken seasoning maybe twice a weak. After I saw slaughterhouse videos and contemplated the issue, I decided that killing plants is better than killing animals and if I have to eat meat for b12 or other nutrients, I will only do it sparingly. For those who think we MUST eat meat to survive (and should not use supplements), there is good news in that respect. They're already capable of growing meat by reproducing muscle cells. They take a tissue sample and then grow it. No animals are killed in the process. They're working on giving it texture and taste that's similar to meats that you buy in the market. They're apparently not there yet. They've been able to make jello-like meat this way for a long time in labs. I suspect in 10 years we will have it.

I'm a vegetarian & have been for over twenty years (Excluding a two year stint as a vegan..)

Long gone are the days of either being vegetarian or vegan...Now there are so many sub-classifications (Ovo-Veggie, Ovo/Lacto Veggie etc) that it has become confusing..Personally I feel that if you allow anything that has lived to pass your lips then you are not a vegetarian which opens the whole "Are eggs classed as a living thing given they are unfertilized embryos" debate..

Any reason you ask?

I ate meat up to the age of 15 then I visited a slaughter house & found out about the whole steroid/Growth hormone thing in cattle & the slaughter practices..That was the last time meat passed my lips..

Funny thing is that I loved to cook for others so still handle meat & meat products yet the idea of putting it in my mouth sickens me..Not that I am preachy about it..It's a personal choice, but ugh! Not for me

I cant imagine eating meat again.
Me neither. Been a vegetarian for 2-3 years now.

I think anyone would be repulsed and upset if someone killed, say a cow in front of their eyes, cut out meat from its dead body, prepped it, cooked it and said "Have a nice dinner" though. haha But the thing is a lot of people don't look at it that way. They just see a "meatball" or a "chicken wing" and think "Yay!".

yeah i just gutted/cleaned a mackerel yesterday and nearly threw up (usually i'm used to the fishmonger doing it for me). then spent ages 'cleansing' the kitchen. i'm back eating it once a week because i can't take f'ing essential fatty acids supplements, and i'm fortunate that i like eating fish but preparing it- gives me nightmares of my childhood in the kitchen, or...picking at meat on my plate :puke:

Oh, that sounds like a terrible job to have to do. :( I can't comprehend how people can work at a slaughter houses etc. day after day... I mean I'd go insane!

How come you can't take the supplements?

Back when I still ate fish, mackerel and tuna where my favorites. Their flavors are so intense... I wouldn't be tempted to go back to eating them again, though.

Btw, I heard a story once about Avril Lavigne. She's a vegetarian but she "cheats" sometimes and treats herself to cheese burgers from McDonald's! lol I guess she's not a veggy out of ethical concerns then.
