Today's theme: BIRDS
hey, thanks JMG for the invite and yup! i’m for the birds!
my favorites are blue jay and cardinal but there are also many others. i’m just annoyed by a certain emu that appears on tv lately but its not the birds fault. you are better off not knowing about it if you don’t already know! i’ll see if i can come up with any more... see you soon... (maybe) 🌞🌞🌞

Questions:

1. Do you like birds? If yes, what is your fave kind? And if no, why?
2. If you could be any bird you wanted, which one would you want to be?
3. Do you like watching/looking at birds?
4. If you were transformed into a bird, where would you fly to first?
5. Not really a question so much as just a say whatever you want kind of thing. Can be about birds, or about whatever else you want to talk about. Or if you want to post some pix (of birds or anything else you want) that's fine too! ;):)

1. Birds. I wrangle them. So yes.
Favorite- 🦩. even the dead flamingo (my avatar) isn’t too ugly.
2. 🦩
3. I like watching birds. I have a feeder 2 feet from my favorite chair. (Window between.) I Would have nice pics-but we have dark screens, so pictures aren’t great. Morning doves, cardinals, blue jays, sparrows, redbellied woodpecker, siskin, hummingbirds, crows. Mallards & Canadian geese on occasion. There are hawks moving in the area, just haven’t visited my yard.
4. Probably hit a few zoos on my way to the Caribbean (Margaritaville).
5. I made some fun squirrel friends That like the bird feeder.

1. Do you like birds? If yes, what is your fave kind? And if no, why?
I love birds. It's kind of a new thing, but I've really come to appreciate them over the last couple of years.

2. If you could be any bird you wanted, which one would you want to be?
Oh gosh, I don't know enough about birds to pick one, but I'm kind of morbid so maybe a vulture!

3. Do you like watching/looking at birds?

I do. There's a lot of them where I work. Mostly begging for food. haha I think they are amazing to look at. Especialy in flight.

4. If you were transformed into a bird, where would you fly to first?

Towards water, I think. Like a beach.

5. Not really a question so much as just a say whatever you want kind of thing. Can be about birds, or about whatever else you want to talk about.

I posted this elsewhere, but I think my love of birds came a little after my parents died. I was so sad, and I remember laying in bed and hearing the birds sing. It was the first time in forever I felt good and calm. They gave me hope. And I think that's what they represent. Hope.

Thanks @JMG !

1. Do you like birds? If yes, what is your fave kind? And if no, why?
Yes, especially when I was young(er). Tomtits.
2. If you could be any bird you wanted, which one would you want to be?
A tomtit.
3. Do you like watching/looking at birds?

Yes, used to be into birdwatching. Learned a lot about expensive binoculars.
4. If you were transformed into a bird, where would you fly to first?

The sky?
5. Not really a question so much as just a say whatever you want kind of thing. Can be about birds, or about whatever else you want to talk about. Or if you want to post some pix (of birds or anything else you want) that's fine too! ;) :)

As a kid decades ago, I used to catch chickens at my grandparents'. The key was to start running suddenly and explosively, then guess which way the chicken will zig or zag and break off in that direction with hands ready to grab it. No one was hurt, except me on occasion when I guessed wrong, slipped and took a faceplant.

Thanks @pooky for the tag... okay @JMG .....ummmmmm

how about this i’ll leave this news story here. Funny thing this just happened. Perfect “bird timing”

side note some of my earliest interactions with birds have not been pleasant. We had a woodpecker in our side yard that loved to....well......make noise 24/7......i used to think he did it on purpose to annoy me.....I was a kid maybe 6 years old.
The next bird was a blue jay! This was “ round about” the same year during my childhood. He would land on the same tree and every time I would walk out the side door he would stare me down, he swooped at me quite many of times...who knows ....maybe thinking back he had babies around or something....I don’t know!

My grandmas house, she lived in a area that mag-pies (sp) frequent. They would eat the berries off a bush on her property and get “drunk”. They constantly were smacking into the side windows....not enough to kill them just enough to daze them.
!
I will say though.......
This aquatic store I would go in everyday as a child, also had a “bird area” in the back.
out of all the birds.......
A finch! I fell in love with those birds. They have no annoying chirp! They are compact and small! Look like cuties !

So if I absolutely had to...... The Finch is a bird i would say all around ok! They always seem happy.

Okay not trying to bring down the “bird bunch” (don’t hate me ) just thought I should give a backstory about my anxiety with birds.

Lovely Café theme!

1. Do you like birds? If yes, what is your fave kind? And if no, why?
I love birds. My favourite kind? Whatever one I’ve spotted in my binoculars at the time or that is sitting on my fingers.

2. If you could be any bird you wanted, which one would you want to be?
I can’t choose. There is so much diversity — common sparrows to birds of paradise...

House Sparrow:

Wilson’s Bird of Paradise:

3. Do you like watching/looking at birds?
Very much! Big - small, common - rare, colourful - “plain.” They are all interesting.

4. If you were transformed into a bird, where would you fly to first?
Depends on what kind of bird I’d be. If were a local bird, I’d head for the woods by the river. :)

5. Not really a question so much as just a say whatever you want kind of thing. Can be about birds, or about whatever else you want to talk about.
A while ago, I met up with someone I hadn’t seen since high school (so it was decades). She asked me, “Do you still go looking at birds?” I hadn’t realized that even way back in high school I was into birds. My granddad was a skilled amateur naturalist and bird watcher. Maybe it’s in my genes? :)

hi RCee, you are reminding me... blue jays were a fixture in my neighborhood when i was growing up. I’ve always known them to be very aggressive and territorial birds. they scream and assert themselves. our cats - many - were no match. that’s just the blue jay way.
not intended but... that reminds me... and how appropriate... hope you enjoy....

nice !!! (The song reference)
I also have been told they are very territorial. After reading your text, I can’t help think to myself “If I was a bird, what bird would I be”? ...haha deffo a blue jay! No doubt! Y’all better watch out! Lol 😂🤣😂🤣

a personal bird tid bit. when i was about 4 or 5 i was at my father’s office one day where a lady coworker was there. I do not remember what happened there but i fell in love with here right then and there. then she one day arrived at our house to deliver a work related package. i was so thrilled! and in love and honor of her i named my stuffed penguin after her.

1. Do you like birds? If yes, what is your fave kind? And if no, why?

I love to watch the birds here, beautiful and graceful critters. My favorite would be the shrike, the butcher bird, both a songbird and bird of prey that impales what it kills on barbed wire barbs and thorns and such.

2. If you could be any bird you wanted, which one would you want to be?

Other than me actually being a dodo already, a roadrunner, I can be a bird, a cartoon character defeating a coyote and a Mopar muscle car at the same time. :)

3. Do you like watching/looking at birds?

I really do enjoy that. Need good binoculars for it, my preference is Swarovski 8x42.

4. If you were transformed into a bird, where would you fly to first?

Back to hunt down my mom bird at the next she kicked me out of. I am remembering JMG's cartoon about animal parents where the mama bird kicks out the baby with the caption: Fly Bitch. LOL

Hey everyone, hope you are all well. :)
Just thought I'd post another extremely popular cafe (lol) so here it is then.

Today's theme: BIRDS

Here's some facts and questions about them. Will post some pix too in a separate post. Hope everyone has a nice day :);) :p *hug*hug

Interesting bird facts:

- Most common bird in the world is the domestic chicken
- Rarest bird is the Stresemann's Bristlefront
- There are over 10000 species of birds in the world
- A group of owls is called a parliament
- The country with the most birds is Colombia
- The country with the most beautiful birds (supposedly, matter of opinion ultimately of course) is Costa Rica
- The most beautiful bird in the world (according to google anyway) is the Bohemian Waxwing.
- Ostriches are one of the oldest bird species on earth

Questions:

2. If you could be any bird you wanted, which one would you want to be?
3. Do you like watching/looking at birds?

I'm in short of money to get myself a soundproof headphone, as the normal one is unable to limit the noises from my surrounding. Either that, or I need to learn to accept the fact that nobody cares.

Do you like birds? If yes, what is your fave kind? And if no, why?
- Parrots are nice. They are colorful.

If you could be any bird you wanted, which one would you want to be?
- Parakeet, I guess.

Do you like watching/looking at birds?
- Watching them in cages is not really exciting. I enjoy looking at pigeons, doves and sparrows in parks and public spaces.

If you were transformed into a bird, where would you fly to first?
- The mountains, the forests, the seas, etc. Well, birds fly to anywhere with food and shelter.

Not really a question so much as just a say whatever you want kind of thing. Can be about birds, or about whatever else you want to talk about. Or if you want to post some pix (of birds or anything else you want) that's fine too! ;):)
- How about a sneezing chicken? Don't worry, it's just dusts.
